Israel, the world first global trade center
The geographical position of Israel was important in ancient times as it sat at the crossroads of Africa, Asia, and Europe. It was most likely a great melting pot of culture, technology, and trade and of genetic diversity. During Roman empire, it was a coveted object for Rome and if they could control Jerusalem they could control the region.
Because the spirit of the Jews was so stubborn the people could never be controlled and once they had crossed a threshold of chaos they had to be delt with in a severe manner that we had seen in 70AD and the destruction of their temple and their religion that was prophesied to happen by Jesus.

This could also mean that to be Jew isn't genetic, since they most likely had diversity from all over the world. Jacob had submitted to Esau and Esau had western European traits so it is most likely their families were intertwined. King David could have been white, he could have been brown it doesn't really matter because the concept of "Israel" as a nation was a spiritual difference (the circumcision was about spiritual not physical) So God was using them and choosing them for his spiritual agenda, not because of their genetic makeup.
