I don't know if you know much about how the training works under the hood but just because you dump the corpus of all-human-created-information and art since, say, 1000 BC (or whatever), on doesn't mean that today's AI will be able to process it as well as the newer version next year. While AI is advancing fast (go to the link below and hover over the image to see what I mean), it takes time for humans to properly pre-process data for AI to train on when it comes to _meaningful_ training.

That's where you're not appreciating where things are actually headed in the very near future. Part of the reason every tech company is racing to develop "smart" glasses with cameras and microphones that are always on and sending information to a processing cluster, is because they can use this information from potentially hundreds of millions of people to train AI models in real time from a first person human perspective. You'll hear a lot of people in the next 5 years talking about super intelligence or talking about always on aI wearable devices. It will be pitched as something that helps you remember where your keys are, but behind the scenes what it's really doing is providing a near infinite amount of data to train AI models - not just on what has been written or what has been photographed in the past, but what is being experienced in real life on a daily basis all over the world all over the world in real time. If you cannot understand this, you are woefully unprepared for the reality that's about to land on your head like a ton of bricks.

I suspect the next shoe you'll drop is that there's something special that can't be gleaned from, say, simply giving employees the glasses and getting the data that way, but I'm dubious. I don't doubt for a second that SOME element of the data will be useful and possibly uniquely useful when gleaned from everyday people as opposed to employees gifted the technology, I just can't think of what that, exactly, is.

I can't speak for all tech companies, but I can say as an insider (yeah I know my dad works at Nintendo, etc) these types of always on data collection devices already exist in different forms and are already being used by employees of those companies to train models to understand the real world. However, this employee-based training is only to train the models to understand basic things like common room layouts, common arms length interactions, conversational language, etc. They can get the models only so far with a couple thousand people collecting data in a few cities. They need constant 24/7 global awareness all over the planet in real time to get these AI models to the point of near omnipotence. I don't expect you to believe me, I just hope you remember this because what I'm telling you is 100% true and is an inescapable future that is already in motion. Just remember the term "always on" AI. You will be one of the few who know what this means.
