I joined in the middle of OIF because I had worn out my welcome in my town. Best thing i could have done at the time and I’d do it again given similar circumstance. I got in shape, learned weapons and tactics, had a lot of laughs and good times. The Army is not the best branch for getting an education. You can bet it all on the GI bill, but the odds are that local chimp run businesses will prevent you from being a student while earning enough to keep a roof over your head.

The best training comes out of the Navy or the Air Force, but they both have downsides. The Navy expects you to extend your enlistment for the good schools and the Air Force expects you to work as an E-3 for your entire enlistment.

I expect that the Space Force is a petting zoo for homosexuals. It is the only branch where nobody is a front line combatant.

The long story made short is that people hire you for taking on baby maker debt. Period! The only way to keep your life from being a shambles is to be an alpha gorilla who hits things when the chimps trash your life. This country IS headed to civil war so I can't promise anyone that the military is an improvement. Being in a protected status is purely dynastic until the two parties tear each other to shreds. If you are in uniform when that happens, you go first.

I think if you’re young (<27) or really struggling to get into a remotely decent career, the Army can be a pretty good choice if you understand and reconcile the risk, which is literally death. Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, and Army are much better than the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps is fucking retarded and should only be considered by young hard asses who really want that faggy ooh rah shit and nothing else. Customs and Border Patrol is a quasi-military branch at this point but the career isn’t as good as the others because it’s not DoW. There are other DHS jobs which are pretty good but none of them are as good bennie and career wise as military. If you’re kind of enlisted, generic working or middle class, then getting an online degree while AD is not bad, but if you have a realistic shot at a high end career either in the military or outside of it, then you’ll have it held against you for having an online degree rather than a real in-person degree. Your life isn't going to get better joining the army. If you are 18 years old and go in for the GI Bill you are going to get out and go to school 4 years later than your cohort and that will have knock on effects to your life down the road. If you are going in, go in career, get an education while you are in related to the MOS you are in, and then immediately go into the private sector collecting a tax free pension and then become a contractor related to your MOS

Also the requirements for Secret securtity clearence is nowhere near as stringent as Top Secret. Most of the military has Secret.

Yes that's exactly what i mean, You really have to go to medical and get it written up in your records so that when you get out of the army and the VA pulls up your records they can file a claim for it. I usually go to medical 7-9 times in a year for the slightest of reasons such as ringing ears, hand tremors, joint paint, muscle pain, head ache, etc. You need to build a paper trail as much as you can when you are in. There's literally a guide on reddit on how to jack the VA.

I joined the army as a teenager withno direction. Im 39 retired with a pension. Have two degrees they paid me to get with the GI bill. Own a home with no downpayment with a Va loan. Systems of the beast after complete contract have became disabled and have one of my legs amputated because the tendons were very torn and was just a dead foot dangling. Broke the bones of my arm and my hand gets convulsed really bad. Disabiliy checks are good about 1000 a month.
