There was this other time I think Mexico had a power outage in a large area up north and Maduro shouted something like I have a great idea we will do PDVSA-PEMEX cooperation, we will exchange oil for gas and it will be mutually beneficial. And then like the next day Mexican government says they wont do that because they want to avoid sanctions.

Venezuela won't be the next Iraq, it'll be the next Vietnam. Venezuela has foreign backers like North Vietnam did and can get plenty of high tech military supplies for oil. Also Iraq was a flat, rocky country where it was harder (but still very effective) to carry out an open insurgency, whereas Vietnam and Venezuela are mountainous and covered in jungle which is perfect for guerilla warfare.

The Venezuelan people don't deserve to be fucked with like this, let them choose their own form of government and let their domestic affairs progress naturally.

There is an extremely powerful network of people and politicians backing the "opposition" in Venezuela and has been for the better part of 30 years now. Things are intensifying right now because America is preparing its final move to smother a genuinely popular socialist movement in its backyard. I feel like everyone forgot how well-respected among Latin America that Chavez was and how much aid Venezuela provided to other countries like Cuba in their time of need. The Bolivarian Revolution was making a genuine effort to help push Latin America as a whole to the left in an era where neoconservative cowboy capitalism was unleashing terror in the Middle East.

Sure there were protests, but where are the people rallying around the "opposition"? Where the fuck is Juan Guaido today? You are mistaken my friend. Have you not seen the massive refugee crisis flooding out of Venezuela across the Americas? These are the people that could have stayed and resisted, but Maduro gave them the option of packing up and leaving without being hassled by the police or military. And I sympathize with these people, the life of a refugee is incredibly difficult and cruel. But they weren't forced to stay, nor were they backed into some kind of corner. Conditions in Venezuela are rough but there are people, private citizens, that rally for government and are actively training themselves to use firearms in case their country is invaded. These people are still poor, they don't get anything by staying, given how enthusiastic they are to train they could easily organize to resist and overthrow Maduro if they wanted, but instead they support him and rally around him. Why is that? Either it's Stockholm Syndrome, or it's because the Bolivarian movement like I said is GENUINELY POPULAR. Same as the folks who defend the revolucion in Cuba today as active measures have been taken to strangle their socialism over the past few years. They have nothing to gain from their loyalty and risk their lives by staying, yet they rally around him because they believe in his movement.
