For some people it's just what they're used to. For a while when I was a teenager that's how I ate too, and then I got broke and had to cut back to rice and beans and cheap chicken thighs. After that, junk food made me physically feel bad. These people have never had that experience, they grew up on junk and keep going on junk. If they were ever really forced to get off it for a decent while, they might change their ways. But the system as it is will never do that.
