HAPPENING: Car repossessions hit surge, hitting highest rate since the Great Recession
>According to CU Repossessions’ analysis of the Recovery Database Network, more than 2.2 million vehicles have already been repossessed this year, and that number is expected to climb past 3 million by the end of 2025.
>“If people aren’t getting raises or new jobs, they could be impacted in terms of their ability to make payments, particularly with the cost of other products increasing,” Gin explained.
>With inflation continuing to drive up the price of housing and food, Gin said many households may be pushing car payments lower on their list of priorities.
>Gin said it’s too soon to tell whether repossessions will continue to climb or start to level off. But he warns that when Americans can’t make payments on something as essential as a car, often their main way to get to work, it’s a sign of financial stress across the economy.

I've been saying that automakers are doomed for like 3 years now.
People poo-pooed me back then, but now everyone is seeing it play out in real time.
There has not been one new thing that they've come up with in the last 15 years that has been a true value-add.

Every piece of new tech they put into these late model vehicles represents a negligible improvement to the user experience and at the same time needlessly complicates and drives up costs of individual parts and components, or creates a single-bid bottleneck for dealer-only maintenance and repairs, or tethers an amenity (like in-dash navigation, remote start, etc) to a monthly subscription payment so that the manufacturer can continue to tax you for the vehicle you've chosen to buy from them.

This is part of a broader trend in products manufacturing by western companies.
One of the iron laws of design and engineering is Occam's Razor:
>Accomplish the task by the simplest, most efficient, and least costly means necessary
Most mechanically-driven consumer products were optimized decades ago.
There is no need to tether proprietary network-integrated digital circuitry that relays data to the manufacturer to a mechanical part or system; that makes the product worse for the owner, not better.
A car needs to be simple, relatively fuel-efficient, and require as little and as simple a maintenance schedule as possible.
It needs to go, stop, and maybe play music if you have to be in it for a while.
Any add-ons or "tech advancements" beyond that are completely superfluous and provide no real benefit.

Minimum wage is the ultimate form of price fixing, and price fixing is always a fucking retarded behavior with terrible consequences.
Only two people have a say when it comes to the wage paid: the employee and the employer.
No one else's opinion is relevant.

Your actual beef, whether you realize it or not, is that people who are willing to trade an hour of their time for $7.25 (or less) are living in the United States instead of India or the Philippines or Guatemala where they belong.

It's not a bill.
The buyer/borrower made an unsecured agreement to be paid later by a counterparty.
They gave you the thing they agreed to give you in advance; you already have it, and don't require any further performance from them.
If paying them creates undue financial hardship on you, just don't pay them.
There is no moral onus on you for doing so; they're the ones who made the mistake of entering into an unenforceable contract with no security.

I bought mine because I was sick of being stranded by my 2004 f-350 with a 6.0L, which is a very problematic engine. It's is also used for work it and generates revenue for me by allowing me to tow shit and also allows me to work in remote areas without costing me downtime or having to pay to get it towed, like my older work truck.
But otherwise, yes they are a depreciating "asset" you aren't telling me anything I am not already aware of. As far as the tech angle is concerned, it's a 6.7L powerstroke, it's very proven engine and one of the few modern engines that can do 1,000,000 miles if taken care of.

No work expense or tax write-off justifies owning a vehicle with an alternator or fuel injection system tethered to a software key than only a dealer can unlock to repair or replace it.
They are literally manufacturing products in a way that purposefully keeps you tethered to them and paying them over time.

I live in a deep red area, voted for Trump 3 times, and work in a data center. I was at my local pub last night. The look on everyone’s face was despair and hunger. Most of them already lost their jobs due to AI and the Trump recession. I bought a round of drinks and one of the older guys said, “things were so much better when Biden was president. I haven’t eaten in days and really need those food stamps.”

When I left, I noticed a bumper sticker on one of the lifted trucks saying “Should’ve voted for Harris. Honk if you agree!”. I honked as I drove away.

This is bad. Really bad.

Show me a single instance of an alternator or CP4 not working due to the OEM remotely disabling it
>you should have bought a 2012 with 150,000 miles on it
no thanks I'm good
my brother in law has a 2018 one that he put 200,000 on and still works that truck hard with no issues other than he smoked the tranny due to him being an idiot and using a 700hp tune while towing heavy
I also still own my 2004 F-350 and can still use it as a backup.
Besides, unless you are buying an old 5.9 cummins or some shit that is purely mechanical or something similar all of the shit is still far more connected than you realize, even the 2012 models. Ford started that back in 1997, GM did that back in 1994.
No offense, but you I know more about this subject than you do.

I moved in a new apartment complex that was nice and quiet since it had just recently been built, 1 bedrooms going for around 1800 a month. It was nice for 6 months, but on that 7 month all of a sudden a bunch of niggers showed up out of nowhere and literally filled ALL of the vacant apartments. By the 8th month I had to listen to cars getting towed every single night at 2-3 in the morning. Been here for 14 months so far and I still have to hear cars being towed a couple times a week. What I'm wondering is: where do niggers get all of this money from and why can't they pay their car notes or repair them? How are niggers living in decently nice apartments but have piece of shit cars that sit in a parking spot for a month or cars they haven't paid for in months?

Their new growth frontier is offering amenities and add-ons to vehicles that are marketed as a value-add but actually just cost way more than they're worth in the long run.

The car will get sold and whatever the difference is between the sale price and the balance of the loan will then be charged to the debtor. A deficiency letter to let them know how theyre deficient. It's not so much telemetric data relay. All companies collect data as a business practice. You can make an argument that it is the best form of customer feedback possible.

I drive an old beater, but I have plenty of friends who make enough money that they purchased new cars within the last few years.
Nearly all of them gripe about being forced to go to dealers for "proprietary" repairs to the digital dashboard/UI system, digitized controls, having to pay monthly for software-based junk, etc.
It's gay. Lame and gay.
There is such a mountain of demand for simple, no-frills automobiles that you can take to any Mexican with a lift jack to repair, but manufacturers are so entrenched with each other and with government that they block US sales of these types of vehicles that THEY ALREADY PRODUCED FOR SALE ABROAD.

>>520209754
Poor brown retards will always walk into the dealership and ask one question and one question only:
>How much is my monthly payment?
Not for how many months. Not what is my interest rate. Not how much is maintenance going to cost me. Nothing else. Those people can't be helped.
But for the bucket of rational consumers who aren't positively obsessed with a vehicle as a status symbol, I believe that there is a huge hole in the market, and the worm is on the verge of turning. See above.

At the time I was thinking like wtf this is bad, $18k is not that much. Then he mentioned people who trade in cars that they still owe on and get a new loan to cover the cost of the new car and what they owe on the old car. Yeah the digital controls are annoying, but at the end of the day I wanted a truck with 0-10,000 mile range and not 150,000+ with a transmission on it's last legs from years of abuse. You aren't wrong though, but in this particular case I am not worried as body control modules and whatnot seem to be pretty robust and don't have issues on these trucks. If they have issues at all it's usually a faulty ground cable. But these trucks haven't really changed in the last 8 years besides the superficial shit like the aesthetics of the 10 speed transmission (jury is still out on this one but it does worry me a bit ngl). But Forscan is free and I have buddies who work for Ford anyways, so I am not too worried beyond the transmission.

If you really want to go down the planned obsolescence rabbit hole, look at all the shit that the OEMs have been doing with transmissions making valve bodies that wear out or separator plates out of paper. And this is not new, they have been doing this for decades. They want to make shit intentionally fail right outside the warranty period so customers must pay for expensive service or buy a new vehicle.
I am just saying, with a little know how, you can out smart these assholes.

You would probably be surprised to learn not only how quickly the downward influence of default or deficiency falls off of one's credit record, but how willing lenders are to just ignore them.
It generally happens within a year or two.
Credit bureaus are by no means impartial or independent; they exist because of lenders, not borrows, as that is from whom their livelihood flows.

The vast, vast majority of lenders do not want borrowers excluded from applications and consideration for loans, unless they are literally fresh off of welching on a lender.
Our entire credit system is based on naked usury. It really is just a numbers game: sign as many borrowers up for loans as possible at a given interest rate, and the ones who continue to dutifully pay even when they are totally underwater/upside-down will pay for the ones who tell you to go fuck yourself and whom you have to sell to a secondary or collections agency for 8-12 cents on the dollar value of the loan.
It's just like the run-up to 2008: they don't want people excluded. They want to originate as many loans as possible along every point of the risk curve, so they can turn around and sell them to a bank or financial institution looking to book and securitize them.

Understood, my point is that those consequences are limited in scope. Dealing collections agencies as a result of ignoring a debt worth a couple thousand bucks is sort of having to get into a fistfight with Orlando Bloom because you fucked Miranda Kerr lol.
All they can really do is call you repeatedly and be jerks, and I already don't answer or return phone calls from numbers I don't know.
And the original lender only sold the debt to them for 10-30% of the original value, so you sort of already got a great deal on that.

The morality aspect of it is kind of abstract.
Like most people who are honest and morally upstanding will tell you that you should uphold your end up of what you agreed to and pay off the debt.
But at the same time, the majority of people who would say that adhere to religious beliefs that, historically anyway, tell them that lending money is an act of grace and charity reserve for friends and family in need, and that lending money for interest is inherently sinful and immoral.
So their beginning premise, whether they want to admit it or not, is that the person who is lending money as a commercial activity is perpetrating a scam.
And there's not really any more appropriate way to deal with a scammer than to scam them back.

>it absolutely boggles my mind that you can miss one payment and your car will be taken away from you in US, forever
>the payments you made up to that point? gone
Thats not how it works, if the car gets repo'ed and you dont bring the loan current before the auction date they auction it off to pay the amount of the loan.

If the amount the car brings at auction is LESS than the balanced owed you still owe money, if the amount is MORE that what is owed they have to send you a refund for the amount over, they do not get to keep it.

Putting aside all of the other incredibly astute and informative shit I've said on this subject in this thread, no lender repo's a vehicle after a single missed payment.
That would cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I don't care if someone doesnt want to pay it back or abuses bankruptcy laws or anything like that. Its their call. Some collections agencies can be very aggressive. I used to work for a debt settlement company. Ive had clients who removed some of their debts from the program because they really got hounded. Some payday loan companies are like that and the person broke down and started paying again because the calls and everything got to be too much for them. Calling relatives of the debtor and their workplace, really aggressive behavior.

I don't get it.
I don't know anyone who would blame me even an iota for being harassed by a collections agency over a debt they have nothing to do with. They would all say, in perfect unison, fuck that company, never pay them.

And coincidentally, that violates federal law.
Call the police.
Honestly, your story doesn't make much sense. I suspect you made it up.
