I kind of played original wow before any expansions or anything, horde was apparently more chill because older people picked horde back then. I tried to play this with my friends, but it was always so boring. I ended up maxing out the number of characters I could have and they were all below level 20. I don’t want to spend 20 hours clicking on boars in a field just so I can increase a stat to then click on blue boars for 20 hours in a different field.

Also, Orcs are fun. Goblins as well.

When you explore the blood elf zone this becomes clear that in order to save themselves and maintain the sunwells or something they had to side with the horde. Sunwells=source of magical power. Alliance don't like sunwells. Because sunwells are linked to the demon realm and they would close the sunwells if the blood elves joined the alliance.

No sunwell=no more magical powers.

Horde had the better questing and PvP. Nothing more infuriating than having Alliance 1 flight path 30 miles away from a couple of quest givers in the nearest zone while Horde has 15 flight paths, 500 vendors, and 30 quest givers in every zone.

Alliance had the better cities and PvE. Nothing more infurating than raid wiping because no salve and the raid wipes after windfury triple procs on melee causing a threat resonance cascade and tanks panicking trying to tard wrangle (impossible).

Rather than putting in the effort to find one naturally, they entrust their money, fate and destiny to blizzard, and they surrender to the online social environment that is wow. And they will play wow, and only wow, and it will be their containment bubble where they fail to find anything better. That’s what it is, a containment bubble designed to rob you of your time, opportunity and social chance.

It’s a carefully curated game built backed by psychological human analysis and years of research in order to absolutely maximise your addiction, invested time and dependence.

I have seen people living in filth while they play this game for 13 hours a day, not showering, never cleaning. Literal mouldy dishes in the sink while they raid molten core with their guild, dust everywhere. Like health hazard gamer houses. I met a morbidly obese 50 year old couple who did nothing but play wow all day, every day. They had a dozen max level alts and thousands upon thousands invested in the game, and it’s literally all they did.
It becomes an addiction, a psychological problem where you become reliant on the digital social environment for affirmation and positive encouragement. I remember installing tbc for the first time on a compac desktop, it took like 36 hours going through the 16 disks.

Although Orgrimmar appears chaotically built, its actually easier to navigate with a daily routine (especially with alts) than Stormwind.
There are also some horde only t-mog quest rewards that are worth making atleast one character even if you HAVE to be "the good guys".

Also, dont pay for that shit.
With the current state of retail (with mob scaling) you can play 75% of the massively bloated content with a trial account lvl 20 char.

My favourite time on wow was back before flying mounts were a thing, stalking people in STV as a mid level rogue, wiping out people who were trying to quest. gurubashi arena. I was horrible. Killed one orc like over 70 times, those were the days man. And early day battlegrounds, warsong gulch or AB as a jacked pally. AV. Nothing beat it.

You’re right it’s not the same and never will be the same again and I’ve been chasing that same feeling ever since but not a lot of games cater to the vibe.
some days when I’m out urban exploring irl I’ll listen to the STV music and if I encounter a homeless drug addict or a thief its ALMOST the same thing
To get that vibe back you have to go outside
