It's a Tacoma my dude, those things keep their value like no other. Back when I lived on Kauai, I would see lots of first generation Tacomas being recycled on craigslist for pretty hefty prices. But those local boys take care of them so it is worth it most of the time if you got cash

I've seen people have to replace their Tacoma engines or transmissions and then stand back looking at their truck and say "god, these things last forever!". I genuinely don't get it. Like I'm sure they are decent enough daily drivers but what can you actually do with it? Tacoma's also seem to get terrible fuel mileage for what they are. I'm sure the new 4 cylinder Tacoma's are better but no way in hell I'm buying a turbo 4 banger that's the same price as a 7.3 Godzilla F250.

No, it's propoganda based off their old corolla and hilux reliability.

Upper and middle class people have bought into this sort of mythology that Toyotas are these special cars that will last you a bazillion miles.
The truth is Toyota is on par with regular chevys and VWs, but the people who buy them have the money to follow the basic maintenance schedule and make them last their full intended life cycle.

If someone were to follow say Cadillacs or BMWs owners manual for maintenance they'd have a car that would last twice as long as a Toyota, but that costs a lot of money. So money conscious people who don't want to pay for luxury car maintenance will go to the next best thing to spend a little less while pretending they have this special machine.

Toyotas are no different than a regular gmc, chevy Ford, Mazda, etc.

My 2012 Highlander has 250k miles on it and we put 170k of them on it ourselves. If you keep up with basic maintenance it’ll run forever. It was our kid hauler vehicle for years until I bought 2018 a couple years ago to replace it so my wife wasn’t driving something with 200k on it to transport the kids around. It’s our 3rd car/my gas saver over my 2500 Silverado (before some days how retard a big truck is, I have it haul a tractor and a camper, could probably get by with a 1500, but I can afford it so why not have something that handles towing better) now.

Anecdotal, but I've met several people that have bought new Toyotas and had to lemon law them yet never heard of that with Mazda owners. Yet you don't see people circle jerking Mazda even half as much as Toyota. Toyotas also sell for well over msrp and toyota piggies eat it up. Most manufacturers have such an insane amount of planned obsolescence baked in that it's not too hard to see why someone who remotely tries is viewed as amazing though to be fair.

I was going to type a reply but it was over 6,000 characters so I'll try to be short.
Clash for clunkers ruined old car market.
Manufacturing bailouts in 2008 created a system where senators influenced manufacturing market with regulations. Greedy jews used lobbyist to influence these politicians causing model changes rapidly compared to 30 or 40 years ago where a model could last for a decade with minimal changes. Now some models are lucky to last 5 years, if that, and usually the 1st and 2nd years of a model are shit with recalls so it is only reliable to buy at 3rd or beyond.
I don't know how much normies are aware but the end of the EV tax credits is going to hurt a lot. Some manufacturers like Nissan already cut earlier in the year. Some like GM started cuts in October. I work in the industry and even non-EV cars are dropping in sales like rocks. One customer we supply was at 3k/wk for a certain model. January of this year it was 1.8k/wk and slowly rose to 3k/wk, peaking at the end of September. This is a gas model so EV tax credits do not apply. We are currently at 2k/wk with a possible full stoppage since they aren't selling anywhere in the region according to a dealer buddy. I have a feeling the customer wants to build inventory to try to prevent a stoppage before the holidays. Probably will get big backlash from wagies if government shutdown ends only for the company they work for to shutdown on them. Or possibly shutdown while government is shutdown.

Early Hyundai's were some of the shittiest, least reliable cars you could buy. Hyundai made a conscious decision to focus on making new cars rather than stockpiling parts, which combined with how often their garbage needed new parts, led to the situation I mentioned. There was no stateside inventory of parts worth talking about for the first few years. The company just relied on people not knowing this and buying the cars because they were cheap. At the time, no one even really thought about the idea that you couldn't get replacement parts, because the American manufacturers all had them, and the Japanese also had them, so why would the new competitor be any different?

Most normies just want all their torque immediately to cut someone off, run a yellow or whatever and probably prefer their car to have dumb throttle mapping to make it feel even peppier and faster than it is. My sister had some Kia with the wildest throttle mapping, it was like 85% open at barely over a third of the way into the peddle lol

Twice the payload? Do you even know what the Maverick payload is? It's actually higher than many half tons. 1500lbs in the bed is more than you can physically fit in it. A 10 year old F150 with 5L is only like 50lbs more payload capacity.

Twice the tow rating and 1/4 the mpg and 1/2 the fun and harder to park and blah blah yeah so worth it.

>equate your masculinity with owning a truck/expensive car.
Actually no, my expensive car, a porsche panamera sport turismo GTS, is just a really just a fucking awesome means of conveyance, its beautiful and it exudes prestige and class. I can get 23mpg with a twin turbo V8 if I'm just going to the grocery store, or way less if I'm playing around. I've pulled 1.3 lateral G's without breaking traction, 140 feels like nothing is even going on things are just going by way faster. It feels like a driving on rails, except the rails are placed wherever you tell the car to go. I've never felt like that before, and I can throw my kid in the back if I need to. No BMW I've ever been in felt like that, my wifes lexus gx550 doesnt feel like that, its a nice SUV, beautiful inside, nice leather, and driving is effortless, and its safe for my babies to ride in. But the porsche is next level, its like, um, a magic carpet. My masculinity isnt caught up in it, I just like the ride. You could say my image is and that would be somewhat true, but you mostly just sound like a poor fag coping hard.

Also what is up with this throttling, do the captcha then wait 2 minutes to post, what the fuck? Does it on my phone, or on computer. Gay as shit.
