>I'll just print my own firearm-ACK!

Remember, modern 3D printers are designed with spyware and 'fingerprinting' technology. They will communicate with government-linked agencies if you start printing weapons, and then (at least in the US), this means the feds can easily get a warrant to surveil and investigate you. And before long - if 3D printing weapons is illegal in your jurisdiction - you'll get thrown in prison.

The number of these cases is on the rise, which indicates insider information coming from the printing devices themselves. They are all backdoored and monitored remotely. Which is something a lot of people don't seem to know.

At the very least, you'd want to never activate the machine until it is enclosed in a Faraday-caged environment with no network access of any sort.

There's nothing schizo about any of this. It's an extension of the fingerprinting technology which was introduced during the 90's laserjet era of 2D printing. Devices are identified based on the printer which produced them. If you bought that printer, and it can be linked to you, that can get you in trouble.

Networking surveillance is also nothing new. This isn't exotic technology; it's basic stuff going back decades.

The purpose of a backdoor is to maintain communication despite user input. The only way to sever the network connection is to physically block any potential wi-fi signals.

Most 3d printers run off of fully open source software (unless you own a bambu). Also, most people don't have them connected to any outside network because generally, the kind of people who are into 3d printing are at least tech literate and lean towards being cautious in terms of network security. The things OP is talking about are nonsensical schizo ramblings. He has never touched a 3d printer in his life.

Lol no they aren't. Anyone who is ever printed anything knows how much inconsistency there is between prints, even if you do the exact same thing one after another. You can't trace shit. Also, how is something disconnected from the internet reporting anything?

You're not getting it at all. The printer's user-facing OS is irrelevant to backdooring. I'm talking about firmware modules which are designed to exfiltrate data/information from the device to outside networks. These are not going to be visible without dismantling and analyzing the entire board and chipset, which most users are obviously not capable of doing.

Correct. That's the default state for most of them. I have a camera pointed at mine so I can turn it off if a print fails while I'm at work or somewhere. I kill power to the entire outlet so even if there is the "super secret backdoor for spies" built in, it literally doesn't have power to run.

I wouldn't put it past 3D printer faggots to add code that auto-detects known firearm patterns and reports back - assuming it was internet connected. But that doesn't mean all of them do. Especially home-brewed 3D printers.

OP is a complete retard who doesn't know actually know anything about 3d printing.
Only if you are a newfag who buys a Bambu labs printer or something like that. And in that case, the spyware is just sending back info to the CCP in China. The vast vast majority of 3d printers out are pretty fucking janky and still in the tinker/hobbyist phase of development and don't have anything remotely close to a backdoor sending information about what you are printing to the US government.

Eh, they aren't super complicated, but they aren't super easy either. Sure a slam-fire shotgun is easy as fuck, but that is because all the parts are there at a hardware store. But manufacturing modern firearms takes a little bit of know how. So it's a midwit task at minimum.

No, and for the most common, basic 3d printers, you actually have to go out of your way to connect it to a network. Many of them in their default, stock configuration just print files from an SD card: you put the SD card in your computer, drag the print files to the SD card, sneakernet the card across the room and put it in the printer, then press "print" on the printer to start printing.
You have to do some hacky modding shit to actually be able to control 3d printers directly over a computer over a network.

Dude, a LOT of stock 3d printers don't even have the hardware to even connect to any kind of network. The mainboard is only designed to read G-code and move the stepper motors and print head accordingly. Most of them didn't even have wifi or ethernet hardware to connect to a network until fairly recently.
I had to add on a separate Raspberry Pi and wire it into a printer's control board so that I could run Klipper/Mainsail and actually control the printer from my PC.

non of that is illegal
making guns is legal as long as you don't sell them, they must have serial number such as #1 and no NFA items without proper tax stamp.

next off, its easier to just make a gun out of metal then it is the 3d print one.
i would just grab aluminum bar stock and mill out 100 AR-15 lowers in about 1 week with a basic mill that can be found in garage of any hobbyist all across America.
We have a endless supply of steel barrels, car axles work great and are plentiful.
Gun powder is just charcoal and sulfur which we have a endless supply of and 1 sailboat keel has enough lead to make 100,000 bullets

picrel (2 axes mill) can still be found in high school shop classrooms and is all you need to make a real milled AK-47, M-16 or even a FN-FAL

finally guns are not weapons of war, they are just for personal defense while at war, if we come at you it ain't going to be a shootout, we'll siege cites, set fires, blowup bridges and rail lines, dam rivers and poison your wells, spray your crops with herbicide, sabotage your electrical grid and anything else that will slow you down.
>"BHuut gUns! " ptff stfu, who is this nonsensical psyop even for? anyone stupid enough to think like that wouldn't be enough of a threat to even justify spending the money on that level of investigation.

https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/does-individual-need-license-make-firearm-personal-use

>>520789007
While true, it misses the most important factor. Learning to machine is infinitely more useful and profitable for the user as they can make things a 3d printer cannot (non-firearm related metal parts) and the user can find a local machine shop and apply. Which is a real tangable skill unlike pressing print. By your same claim, you could argue a metal 3d printer is cheaper than a full machining setup. Also GhostGunner machine exists which isn't much more and actually beats some printers in price, see picrel for Ghost Gunner in >>520785187. plus there are several kinds of machining tools like picrel for very cheap like less than 800 bucks you can manufacture many parts of a firearm on if you upgrade it's spindle to a router/actual vfd spindle.

Also, I've had free bridgeport mills and lathes available to me, but I don't have the space for them amd even moving them and setting them up is a gigantic pain. 80% builds don't ever need more than a drill press, shop press, and maybe tack welder and 3d printing needs a computer and a 4'x4' space is your apartment. I've built guns from bare bar stock all the way to 80% kits with various 3d printed designs in between and making something like a rogue-9 requires the least amount of aggregate skill, tools, and space.

If you're on Linux, use OpenSnitch, close all dynamic and outdated protocol ports. This way, every inbound and outbound connection has to be checked and approved by you. Not doing this is like having the front door of your house wide open and discovering unwanted people only after they've already entered and lingered around for an unknown duration.

I just looked it up from what I found. Under federal law the person who directs, controls, and intends the manufacture is treated as the "maker" not necessarily whoever physically touches the tools. In other words, no you don't need to own the tools, and even can get parts made in a transactional sense (paying for a part made from a drawing). Someone who organizes the build (provides the designs/files, decides specs, instructs the shops, arranges to take possession, etc.) will ordinarily be the federal "maker" while the individual shops that merely follow those instructions are typically not the maker, unless their role rises above mere execution.

The only part where it gets cloudy is the receiver/frame. so really none of the other parts matter except the receiver/frame. If a shop produces a ready to go receiver/frame then they are considered the maker. If the shop delivers only nonfunctional raw pieces that are not readily convertible into a receiver, then there's no "firearm" under federal law until assembly, and the person who organized/directed the overall build will be the maker once it's assembled.

this is only what I gathered from a few sites like atf and other gun sites. this is only federal too, some states may have differing opinion /bans

You need to heat treat, thread, and river at the absolute bare minimum nigger. Barreling a AK requires a press and rifling barrels requires a extremely expensive machine for 16 inches. Fal parts kits are absolute dog shit unless it's from FN. You don't bother making a fal unless for some reason you REALLY want a fal.
