watch it reach another ATH in a month, after they've shaken out all the retail investors and slurped their shares up at a massive discount
you can tell when this shit is going to happen by the MSM articles, too.
MSM articles start spamming you to buy gold? you just know the bullrun is over and those who placed their bets early are paying for those articles to lure in exit liquidity.
MSM articles start spreading doom & gloom bubble talk? you just know they are trying to demoralize people before they intentionally dump the prices to make people panic sell.
it's blatantly obvious that it is artificial and coordinated too, since there was not even any incident that would have spawned this dumping.

Michael Burry has made six major documented bets against the broader market or specific overvalued sectors via short positions or put options. One was correct; five were wrong.

Burry has a strong reputation for deleting his Twitter account shortly after bearish predictions fail to materialize, often to dodge backlash. Examples include: deleting days after his 2022 "Sell" tweet (market rallied); vanishing in June 2021 after crash warnings (S&P up 15% next six months); and exiting in February 2023 post-"Sell" (S&P gained 8% immediately after). He reactivates sporadically for new warnings, then deletes again when markets defy him.

You place a bet that a stock will go down. If the stock goes down, you make money. If the stock goes up, you lose money.

It's an extremely risky type of investment and an uncovered short has theoretically infinite loss potential.

it kinda does have a valid purpose. it allows banks to mitigate the risk of long term deals by letting someone else buy the risk of it. means if shit goes south, their losses are less severe, and if the stock rises more than expected, someone else gets to pocket the difference, but at least the bank got the profit they initially calculated from it.
naturally, it attracts degenerate gamblers who start using it to destroy things for personal gain though.

think of it this way
>you agree that your company will build a house for someone for a certain price
>they first have to clear up all the paperwork though, construction will only begin in 6 months
>you do not have enough storage space to buy materials for a full house and just stash them away for 6 months, it would also increase the price too much
>between now and the start of construction in 6 months, prices for building materials explode, and if you'd buy them right now, you'd essentially be working to make yourself poorer, none of your calculations are valid anymore
>but luckily, you have an agreement with someone that you'd trade the materials at a fixed price in 6 months, meaning your calculation is valid and all the risk has been offloaded onto someone else
now some degenerate gambler holds the papers for that risk and hopes that the price of building materials actually drop in the meantime, so he can buy them for less than what he agreed on with you. if they do increase in price, it's the retarded gambler that gets fucked, just karma asserting itself.

now the problem arises when the gambler has so much money available that he can simply manipulate the markets and enforce the changes he was betting on. if he does shit like paying off politicians to get some (justified) tariffs on lumber dropped. his bet plays out well for him now, he can buy the lumber for way less than you agreed to pay for it, but your national lumber industry goes to shit as a consequence.

it's why I don't have any. I just buy manually for a larger amount whenever there's a larger downturn.
the cost average effect stuff is a fucking meme, I have never seen anyone provide an actual valid calculation for it. they always use examples with very few data points that just have enough amplitude to make their calculation seemingly valid.
the only advantage of it is psychological, if you'd otherwise always miss a good timing because you're too scared that you might catch the falling knife.

Disclaimers: our system is fake and gay talmudism. This is not financial advice.

The S&P bounced right off of the 50dma, so Burry fanbois should calm down. Meanwhile, Burry has massivre ass bleeding unrealized losses for claiming that there would be a significant collapse for months. Yes, eventually there will be a 2008esque meltdown, but you have to ge the timing right. Personally I am mostly in 3-12 month Tbills, with a limited bullish Call spread on SPX 6725/6750 for 21 Nov 25.

A lot of people forget his investors were freaking the fuck out about his "Big Short" play which was just bleeding money before everyone realized those MBS were toxic as shit and finally hit it big. Frankly, I think he's become a Pied Piper kind of character that is designed to lead retail a certain way. Oh, Burry is shorting? Load up on puts. Cramer is all in on this stock? Short it. I agree. Buffet's cash hoard was most compelling to me, but clearly he missed out on significant run. So either he seung and missed or there is something else going on. That said, Burry and Cramer are just media ornaments. Burry is a one hit wonder who almost got skinned alive for making huge bets to early (and has been anally bleeding this year for again being too early, but mitwits don't seem to care.) Cramer is an incredibly resouce as a slightly delayed inverse indicator.

2021: Shorted Tesla via put options (disclosed May 2021). Tesla's stock doubled in six months; Burry exited the position at a loss in November 2021.
2021: Shorted ARK Innovation ETF (Cathie Wood's fund). The bet lost as tech-heavy funds rallied through year-end.
2022–2023: Predicted the "mother of all crashes" with a December 2022 "Sell" tweet and put options on S&P 500/Nasdaq. The S&P fell 20% in 2022 but rallied 24% in 2023; Burry admitted in April 2023 he was wrong and closed positions at a ~40% loss.
2023: Shorted semiconductor sector (SOXX ETF) and reloaded on S&P/Nasdaq puts in Q2. Both indices surged; positions liquidated at a loss by Q3.

This is a "the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent" situation.
He wasn't trying to time the market, he just saw current PEs and took his money elsewhere.

They're keeping gold under $4000, so the normalfags don't rush in like they have done some time earlier.
By keeping it steady, they do it under the radar.
NOW is the time to get all the gold you can afford, because soon it's going to be all gone and they'll let it go parabolic.
All they want now is for THEM to own gold, not the cattle.

Exactly like how physical silver stackers managed to buy tons of silver while the banks kept the price down, hoping we'll lose interest and move on.
They manipulate the price with paper contracts, until there's no more physical, exactly like how it's happening with silver where LBMA is unable to cover any physical.

Agreed, and that is precisely what I did. My point is that even Buffet doesn't exactly know what is going to happen (though I value his perspective much more than Burry or Cramer, unless the latter's as an inverse indicator.) Again, Burry took out huge bets thinking that he could time the meltdown; he barely made it in 2008 and in 2025 has been taking enormous losses. He can probably come out of this alright, but mitwits emulating him run a high risk of getting wiped out.

China hasn’t stopped buying gold, they’ve stopped publishing reports on their gold purchases. This is because they’re ramping up purchases. China has to do something with the excess foreign currencies they receive in trade and it has nowhere else to go but gold.

A problem that’s only going to get worse since China changed their restricted exports policy to include silver. China is the world’s number 2 producer of silver.

In a nutshell it’s not wrong
You are in fact gambling on the stock going down, just with less risk than options.

It's actually far riskier than pretty much any options contract, excepting naked calls. There are other naked contracts that can also be quite risky of course, but they won't have as much loss potential as short selling. Any covered option is going to have less loss potential than shorting stock, that's why short selling is generally an awful idea for anyone that's not a savvy investor.
