Republicans refuse to open the government unless they get to raise healthcare costs for all Americans.

You're a retarded faggot for believing Republicans are responsible for the shutdown. You can't hold federal workers hostage to force a negotiation to keep the government open, which is exactly what the Demonrats are doing. They are burning their feet to warm their hands.

Anyway, subsidized healthcare should be at a bare minimum for a country that is as fat as the USA. We have to cull the herd if we truly want efficient social programs and prosperity.

The affordable care act has existed for 15 years, for the stated purpose of lowering medical insurance costs from the dramatic bush era 'highs' when insurance costs increased by 30% over the course of his presidency. In the 15 years since, roughly two Bush presidencies, rather than see any decrease in medical costs it has overseen average medical payments further increase by roughly 250%, not just continuing to skyrocket but outpacing cost increases under Bush. Anyone who paid for medical coverage from the start of the obama presidency to the modern day is keenly aware of just how much the ACA has failed to make medical care affordable. It is clear and obvious to everyone except democrats that the ACA has failed. There is absolutely no reason to continue dragging it forward into the modern day.

>healthcare
why is this issue so important to leftists?
is it because they feel weak and fear for their well being?
or is it because they want to have cheap fag care?

>extend affordable care act only for eligible citizens/residents for one year
>extend the affordable care act subsidies for one year
those are two separate things now under the new law that state there are only two genders, male and female.
the left still hasn't caught on yet that gender affirming care is now non-existent and illegal in america.

better get with the program, dems.
we're not fucking around any longer.

Because I'm sure Chuck Schumer is telling the truth... After that one year, then what? Then Democrats change it all and give illegals ACA subsidies again? Fuck you.

They can see the transparent attempt to make it a hot button midterm issue and said fuck off to the demonic wormtongue weasels. If Republicucks were really savvy, they'd counter with an offer for a two year extension but only for US citizens. Takes it out of an election cycle, and forces Dems to explain why they'd keep the government shut down for noncitizens.

Dems have never pushed for illegal immigrant coverage for this shutdown tho, so why wouldn't they accept? It qould be a win for them

For a while now just about anyone who crossed illegally and cried "asylum" when caught was given a "temporary protected status" that made them eligible for handouts in many states. Those people still immigrated illegally, but Democrats are pretending they didn't while they wait 10 years for an asylum hearing and pump out anchor babies.

Daily reminder Republicans offered exactly this and Democrats rejected the deal until after elections.
Why would Schumer risk poor people's healthcare just to win a few elections in historically blue States?
