>The hustle and bustle of le big apple
the city smells like pee, you imagine Times Square at night with the lights, but there are empty cups on the sidewalk, it stinks like urine because the subway ventilation has homeless piss soaked bums sleeping on them because the heat from the trains wafts up - it fills the street with the stench of warm pee, there are all manner of freaks shambling down the streets.
Its either too crowded, usually by vagrants, or its quite empty and you stand there thinking "this is the center of the world? I look in every direction and see only 15 people, 5 of which are passed out laying up by shop windows" Its a very odd and disquieting feeling like the world ended a long time ago and you werent there to see it.
>Broadyway
You may think of broadway with vast theatre lights, the inside is fine, its like a medium sized highschool gym with a modest stage, the outside looks like its sinking into the city block, as if it hasnt been maintained in a generation.
>The Food
the food is slop, it tastes good but you have to take a taxi to the restaurants or you walk, and its thoroughly uncomfortable to trek through the city on a full stomach.
>the girls out on the town!!!
there are no girls, there are no young women here. I walk the city often and see maybe 10 young people a day, all of them homeless.
>central park
homeless people live there just laying on the grass.
You wouldnt believe it but they literally just lay there, on the grass, all day.
Its also not a "little slice of nature in the big city" it is a handful of trees on green plain the size of a middle class frontlawn with a dirty pond and fountain surrounded by napping bums.
It looks like a refugee camp.
The city is awful, its GDP comes from legal firms and shipping all of which could be moved out of NYC without any functional change and the city would collapse overnight.
The City lives on a reputation from a time that no longer exists.
