This money isn't printed. It has been collected from tariffs. Inflation is always and everywhere a product of supply. Giving away money collected through fees or taxes does not create new currency supply, but just reallocates existing supply. Some things may go up in price as the new owners of the money buy different things than the old owners of the money but overall price levels don't change.

After Trump chickened out on making most of the spending cuts that DOGE recommend and he had the very public falling out with Musk, it seems like DOGE is over. For my sake and your sake, I want this to happen too. However, tariffs are inherently inflationary. Prices are going up. There’s no getting around it. Our only hope is that wages magically start increasing, but I don’t see that happening in this job market. I guess if things get so bad that nobody can afford to consooom anymore we might see a change in wages, but that’s a long shot.
