If you consider $2,000 to be a life changing amount of money then you have problems, kiddo.

yes this is how it always works. the COVID gibs worked the same way. it depends on your tax status, filings, and how you receive refunds. some people got it direct deposited. some people got a mailed check. some people didnt get either and got a credit on their next tax return. if you have a balance due to the IRS, this would be applied to that instead of dispersed to you.

Given that the retarded amounts of inflation that we have seen these past 5 years is almost a direct result of the government printing up a bunch of free money to send to everyone during Covid, I think the last thing the government should be doing is printing even MORE money. I don't need $2k... I need everything to not be twice as expensive today as it was 10 years ago. Anyone with above 70IQ knows this is common sense and the only people begging for more gubmint gibs are literal niggers

The inflation was from the “Federal” “Reserve” literally 5xing the supply of USD, almost all of which went to the megabanks. The stimmy checks were a drop in the fucking bucket.

This. I warned people they'd take it back in one form or another. They took it back with inflation, and with interest. So much of that money got scammed into people's pockets. There was that kitchen in minneapolis I think that claimed to be feeding thousands of people so they got millions of dollars, they were feeding under 100 people.

This money isn't printed. It has been collected from tariffs. Inflation is always and everywhere a product of supply. Giving away money collected through fees or taxes does not create new currency supply, but just reallocates existing supply. Some things may go up in price as the new owners of the money buy different things than the old owners of the money but overall price levels don't change.

Bessent is absolutely shitting himself in that video. A confused old man with dementia has just promised people the best part of a trillion dollars in cash after all, he's trying to walk it back.

Question is whether Trump will fire him because unless that was cleared (in which case concerns around Trump's mental acuity are becoming critical) its obvious insubordination. Spreadsheet Bessent is defying the President.

In order to issue a dividend from money saved by spending cuts, there have to actually be spending cuts. After Trump chickened out on making most of the spending cuts that DOGE recommend and he had the very public falling out with Musk, it seems like DOGE is over. So not only is there no dividend to American taxpayers, it seems increasingly likely that once again, Trump and Republicans will not only fail to reduce government spending, but will continue to grow the debt by passing bigger and bigger budgets

No worries dude, I’m sure the age of deflation is coming and those prices will come down.

Let’s see, the last time this happened was… *checks notes*… briefly during Eisenhower’s term. Huh. Not too long now, I’m sure! Two more weeks!

Where does he say that if the dividend comes in the form of a tax deduction that it'll be more than $2k? It sounds to me like he's saying that whether they issue checks or give you a tax break, it'll only be $2k

Believe me, anon... I am a firm believer in the "number never comes down" philosophy. But even if prices remain stagnant, that's still far better than another 5 year period of EVEN MORE intense inflation. At least if things hold steady, it'll give wages a chance to catch up

What is the difference? Not paying $2000 in taxes and they issue you refund of $2000 is good as cash.

For my sake and your sake, I want this to happen too. However, tariffs are inherently inflationary. Prices are going up. There’s no getting around it. Our only hope is that wages magically start increasing, but I don’t see that happening in this job market. I guess if things get so bad that nobody can afford to consooom anymore we might see a change in wages, but that’s a long shot.

it doesnt need to be said, you just need to do math, right now we dont know what the tax breaks will be, but once we know you can just do the math yourself... 2k as a one time chunk is not that much
