It is fascinating how public perception can shift so quickly. For decades, Indians were often portrayed as highly educated, hardworking, and successful, sometimes even used as proof that the system works. But now there seems to be increasing resentment, stereotyping, and even targeted hate.

Is it because of economic competition, the rise of nationalist politics, or changing social narratives about privilege and identity? Why do societies create such labels in the first place?

Because back then, smarter and hardworking Indians were the ones who immigrated. They settled in, tried to learn the language, and worked hard to establish a home and life for their kids.

Now in the past several years, we have literally any village hick in India trying to trick their way here, many through "student visa" but they don't care about studying, it's just the means to get over here. They also don't bother to integrate because there are so many of them. You don't even see them interact with the second generation Indians

Opinions for the whole of society are formed by the upper middle income earners. The poor don't have the resources to be influential, the rich don't have the numbers. They are the people who lead revolutions and the people the rich need to keep on their side to maintain power.

They were fine with immigration so long as it was Mexicans taking blue collar jobs. It allowed them to get low cost goods and have servants. Once immigration started cutting into their kids jobs in computers, management, entertainment, and medicine, they started becoming xenophobic. The American ethos on immigration is to take in poor immigrants who want a better life for their family. They come in and work at the bottom and grind away so their kids can be the first in their family to go to college, and succeed in a nice career, effectively ending a cycle of poverty in the family. This is how vast majority of our ancestors came to this country. This is something to be collectively celebrated.

The Indians that come to the US in the past 15 years, are all coming through H1B visas, for which the average earning is $150K, (WAY higher than the average American). They are not following the same path that our families took, they are getting everything handed to them way easier and are effectively adding too much competition to the workforce in a way that keeps the poor in America at a disadvantage to the wealthy in India coming here. I don't blame them for taking advantage of it, I blame the institutions for selling out their country.

Also, non-western immigrants (who don't have Christian background) simply do not assimilate as well into society. Not saying they don't, but its much more difficult. Only Christian cultures have altruism baked in.

Worst of all - curry is a disgusting sauce that is overrated by leftist chicks just because its from a non-white country. Indians eat this shit 3 times a day, 7 days a week. If you eat this sludge of food that looks the same way it enters the body as it leaves the body, body odor emits that toxin in a way deoderant can't handle. You aren't going to assimilate when you smell like shit and don't realize it. The second gen Indians realize this and thankfully eat it more sparingly.

I love Indian people, but hate most things about Indian culture.

Actually I have to correct myself here for a sec. My model was taking '3 or more' as a '3' in all cases, since that seems to be the limitation of the data. So yes, it's entirely possible the 2.2 average is grossly off and could be much higher, if Indian households indeed have very high outliers with 3+ earners.

Go back to the 90s and the Indians you saw in America were either the rich and educated ones, or the ones that had enough IQ and drive to go to find a library and research US immigration. The smart Indian stereotype came from that. Fast forward to 2025. Virtually all people in tech in the US work with offshore jeets or H1Bs hired under false pretense who only serve to dilute the labor pool and suppress wages. The offshore ones have a very strenuous grasp on the English language and all have African tier IQ. We spend our days fixing their mistakes. They lie and suck at their jobs. Add to that social media and the widespread availability of information, photos, and videos of India and OF course everyone is rightfully going to be repulsed and absolutely fascinated with that absolute shit hole.
This was always going to be the result. It didn't happen sooner because the Internet wasn't always all about social media and we didn't import as many jeets and offshore as many tech jobs there.
I've worked with them for 15 years. What I can tell you is that the revulsion IS organic and is simply due to increases exposure. Everyone just feels about them the way I did 2-3 years into working with them.
