strange how all of the japanese fans worship him innit?
he's a guest in an antidraw promotion, if he was there permanently with the company built around him he's obviously by far the most important young japanese wrestler in the world. if NJPW could compete with american money they'd have already signed and pushed him as the next generation's ace years ago.

>>18353864
so he got paid thousands to fly take a vacation in the uk, do fuck all in the ring while bushi takes all the bumps, and have a cozy vacation? NJPW has a demanding schedule and an expectation of hard work, he wants them to pony up for it. otherwise he'll go coast for the rest of his career on the indies.

Ok I'm just gonna say it, NJPW needs to change up their booking style. I'm sorry if it offends but they are booking too many of these pointless messy tag matches. When you combine that with the near-complete lack of storytelling outside the ring, it makes for a boring show. They have some of the best athletes in the game but they just aren't drawing interest.

AEW existing with the amount on money Tony has to spend really just changes the landscape for smaller companies entirely. With such a clear #2 any people that start to make a name for themselves are inevitably getting signed. Even if not by AEW than by WWE just so AEW can't have them.
Tony being an autist leads me to believe AEW will be around for quite a while. He might literally have to die for it to end.

I just watched the show.
Most of the card was composed of heatless tag matches, the type that if you've seen one of them then you've seen them all.
Then they give you two actual G1 matches and I don't think any of the wrestlers involved are good enough to be more than jobbers in WWE/AEW, the slavic guy has potential but his gimmick is rotten, the hat makes it looks like something Vince would slap on you before releasing you from your contract.

see I don't see Shad pulling the plug anytime soon. I don't know if AEW is actually profitable, but I'd imagine at the moment at least they're not unprofitable enough for Shad to really care if it's still his money behind it. It started dying when pro wrestlers got exposed in PRIDE and then Inoki sperged out and killed NJPW with his shoot fighter fetish that finally drove off the rest of the audience. It never recovered and it never will.

What an absolutely friendly turn of events.

Where do you start? Old geezers like Tana still sucking the life out of this thing. Shit groups like HOT shitting up the cards (just like Ozawa's group in NOAH). Terrible booking. To break it down, NJPW is shit now. Stardom is shit now. NOAH is shit now. Flushed with a can of rice.

Yeah honestly the promotion going full isolationist and rebuilding from there would be for the best. I get the short term benefits of the AEW partnership like the yearly big payday for Forbidden Door but long term its only hurt them.

Wrestling was better off in 2018. Having two WWEs is killing everyone. To the point where WWE is having to jump in and save other promotions.

You need native stars for him to go against. Fans in the 70's and 80's legit believed that top pro wrestlers were the toughest guys in the country. Even if they didn't completely believe the matches were legit, they believed guys like Inoki, Maeda and Hashimoto were legit. You can't get that back after wrestling was exposed by MMA and kayfabe got shattered by Takahashi's books.

Ooh. I forgot about those books. But do you think enough time has passed for those books to have left the Japanese conscience? Only the harcore marks would remember or even one to find and read

They really need to change up their whole young lion system. Accept at least a dozen young lions. The more students they take in the better the odds of one of them being future dimes instead of ending up a Wato or Shota. Then fast track their training. No more of this retarded 5 years of indentured servitude crap. A year tops of training in Japan, a short Mexican excursion, and then boom they're ready.
