>Under a new five-year deal, ESPN’s soon-to-launch streaming outlet will, starting in 2026, become the exclusive U.S. home of all of the WWE’s top live events, including “WrestleMania,” “SummerSlam,” “Royal Rumble” and “Survivor Series.” WWE will continue to produce all the events, which have in recent years been shown via NBCUniversal’s Peacock. ESPN will also have the option to stream pre- and post- shows tied to the events — ten in all. The events may also be simulcast on certain linear ESPN venues.
This sucks. This service is likely going to cost $30+ a month, so WWE PLE's just got a lot more expensive.
I can't stand ESPN and refuse to give them my money.
Peacock sucked too but at least it was cheaper. I couldn't even get Summerslam to load. And not being able to rewind or restart live shows sucked.

only reason i have peacock, and this legally obtains ppvs, is because of the $20 for a year deal thing, there’s no way this shit will have anything like that. time to go back to pirate sites for ppvs.

The only reason I watched half of these PLEs is because Peacock is like $10 a month. Wwe isnt good enough to justify ESPNs $30 a month. Well, I'd certainly prefer to not have to subscribe to ESPN's service, but I guess I will now.
>>18472497>>18472759That's even more insane that the absurd $30/month price tag. WWE has enjoyed a resurgence due in part to the rebound effect following the end of the covid lockdown, along with increased media attention from the Vince scandal & TKO sale, and the return of a few big stars like Rock, then Cena, now Brock. But the storylines have been limping along, the TV shows are way too long with far too much crap in them, and the PLEs are maybe two good matches if that surrounded by samey bullshit and a fuck ton of ads and celebrity wank camera shots. Who in the fuck will they get to spend $30/month + $80 to see a PLE when this is the product on offer? This crap is going to tank interest in WWE fast.
>>18472351>Is there really more money is having the TV shows and PPVs on multiple cable channels?Yes. WWE is huge and lots of companies want a piece of it.

Still interested? If so can you share your stock portfolio? I could use some tips.
>>18472801Blame the retards who spent years shitting on cable/satellite packages. Streaming has become cable, except you have to pay for each channel individually and the total ends up being twice what cable/satellite costs.
>>18472594ESPN+ is evolving into a new streaming service that's just called ESPN, which will include all the linear ESPN channels, which ESPN+ doesn't include, plus extra stuff. Basically cable is dying, so they're making a way to get all of ESPN without a cable package.
>>18472866>I really don't think the PPV model is coming back.It already has. This new ESPN service is $30/month. That's PPV price already, even if they don't charge extra for each PLE.
And since only the PLEs will be on ESPN, that's all you get. No backlog of all the Raws and Smackdowns and old WCW PPVs, et. al. that we used to get with the WWE Network for $10
>>18472879ESPN+ has backlog content. So if they don’t get old WWE stuff is a step back
>>18472872Cable packages were shit. Just because the new streaming model is also exploitative shit doesn't mean cable packages aren't/weren't also shit. They both share the same problem: forcing you to pay for a bunch of shitty content you don't want just so you can watch the little bit of good content that you're interested in.
>>18472868i got 30k in voo and nothing else
>>18472868It doesn't say the PLEs will cost extra. It literally says the exact opposite. PLEs are included in the $30 a month price.
>>18472882This isn't ESPN+. It's a new service. And there was no mention of getting the back catalogue. See
>All 10 of the WWE’s premium live events each year will stream on ESPN’s new $29.99-per-month direct-to-consumer platform in the U.S.https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/06/espn-wwe-five-year-deal-live-events.html
>>18472887>$30 a month priceThat's already PPV pricing btw. WWE Network was only $10/month. Peacock was also $10/month although they're raising prices too but nowhere near $30/month.
>>18472894You're getting more than just the PLEs though. You get all of ESPN.
>>18472889If that’s the case, good luck on the marketing pitch. In this economy how are you going to tell people to pay $20 more for less content? Peacock has all PLEs of all time
>>18472898If that includes RedZone, thats not a bad deal
>>18472898What the fuck is "all of ESPN"? They only have deals with UFC and some boxing, and all the big bouts will still be on PPV so it's just going to be B-tier cards. ESPN didn't land NFL, NHL, NBA, not that I care about those anyway.
For wrestling fans, this is bad news. Take that shriveled corpo cock out of your mouth long enough to recognize just how shitty this deal is for fans.
>>18472872I got ripped to shreds about a decade ago on reddit for saying that eventually, streaming would become just as expensive as cable as you'd have to have 5+ services to see everything. Everyone was sure that Netflix would be the only service to provide streaming content.
I think cable is underrated. You get a wide amount of live content that you will never really get with any one streaming service because those don't offer local channels or all the sports.
>>18472879Peacock has the library, and people will still need it to watch Smackdown and Main Event if they don't watch them live on USA/NBC.
>>18472901>If that’s the caseIt is the case. It says so right in the link:
>All 10 of the WWE’s premium live events each year will stream on ESPN’s new $29.99-per-month direct-to-consumer platform in the U.S.https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/06/espn-wwe-five-year-deal-live-events.html
But I agree with you. I don't understand how they think $30/month for a streaming service, ANY streaming service, is going to fly in this economy. And we both know there will STILL be commercials since it is live sports content. So we would be paying $30/month and STILL have to watch commercials. That's horseshit!
>>18472903It's not what I'd prefer. I'd rather they stay on Peacock. But it's not as bad as you're acting like it is. And I think there will probably be ways to bundle this service with a cable package or with Disney+, so I bet it won't cost people as much money as the full $30 price either.
>>18472905The dream would be if SmackDown started simulcasting on Peacock so I could drop cable totally. I think eventually you'll be able to watch all of WWE without a cable package but I don't know how long it'll take.
>>18472912>press release literally says the service is $29.99>I bet it won't cost people as much money as the full $30 price eitherThat's a losing bet.

>This will differ from ESPN’s current streaming product ESPN+, which does not include the most-watched live games>https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/09/espn-flagship-streaming-app-to-be-named-espn.htmlIf you STILL can't figure out why WWE's Premium LIVE Events would appear on ESPN's new $30 service that is dedicated to LIVE sports, then I don't know what the fuck else to tell you because you're too damn stupid to connect the dots.
>>18473197Right now any live sporting event on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 can be streamed on ESPN+, including MNF.

They really don't understand that streaming services only exist due to convenience.
The moment they cross the line and it becomes an inconvenience, everyone who isn't internet-retarded will just pirate everything.

Fuck you Kirk Herbstrip. I can deal with the Vince stuff but once you rub that Disney stench on something it don’t come off. Tessatwerpy is already the worm hole in the apple of WWE. >>18473846If you have a cable package, which you probably do if you're a WWE fan, it's still free.
>>18473857>which you probably do if you're a WWE fanWhat are you basing that on? Cable rates are at all-time lows and it's mostly 60+ year old boomers that refuse to give it up coupled with rabid sports fans. WWE fans are not subscribing to cable just to watch Smackdown live.
>>18473857I only have netflix and prime. i'll probably check with my parents to see if they still have direct-tv for their login.
>>18473877I guess there's a lot of casuals who just watch clips on YouTube. I do have a cable package primarily to watch WWE, and I guess with this new deal I'll get more value out of it. I'll probably cancel Peacock unless they keep the NXT PLEs.
>>18473890Anon, I'm not a casual wrestling fan. I literally watch wrestling every single day. But WWE is not worth watching weekly. Their weekly shows are best consumed through Youtube clips, because when you watch live it's 3 hours long and only maybe 30 minutes of that will be good quality content (either match or angle). The rest will be ads, celeb crowd wanking, cringe high school drama skits, shitty throwaway matches, and womemes slop.

>>18473903No lies detected here. I watch Raw, NXT, Smackdown, and AEW every week. WWE is getting to be such a fucking chore to watch. It’s literally all advertising. It’s almost as bad as watching the NBA or NFL. They literally hide full segments and wrestlers entrances behind ads for the US audience. The actual wrestling is so cookie cutter and just feels like filler now so that they can move onto the next group of ad breaks.
Every corner of the arena is now covered in some sport of fucking sponsor. Tickets to prices are sky rocketing. The storylines are all boring as fuck and there is clearly no interest in pushing the envelope because instead of trying to attract more fans TKO/WWE is fine with just milking the existing audience and advertisers for money.

>>18474393>just my little theory. but this could be possibly Disney/ESPN soft launching buying WWE as a whole outright at some point in the future.TKO is not offloading WWE. For one it is the IP that is printing money of them between the recent TV deals, sales and merch. They're using it as a way to bring together UFC events. So there is synergy. On the other side ESPN just went through layoffs to secure a deal with the nFL for the NFL network and redzone. THey don't need to suddenly through in buying another entity to fold in in the middle of that. When the deals for Smack or NXT come up I'm sure they'll be at the table as they were the last couple of times. Now with more inroads. This is Nick sticking to the idea of diversifying WWE's network partners to always have options and bidding wars. This is what you get when you don't think a TV network is your "friend" and understand it's a business.

>>18472463It's TNA the one getting the peacock deal. Yet another tranny backfire.
>>18474643>Disney could probably buy TKO.Acquiring companies and merging or folding them isn't like you buying a videogame. It requires a lot of negotiation beforehand, more so when the company is publicly traded. There has to approval from the governing body of the company as well as the stockholders, but with privacy so it doesnt affect the sale, and then the feds get involved with oversight. Along the way you have to free up the capital and stock to make the merger happen. Afterward you have to reconfigure the purchased company, integrate it into yours while avoiding redundancy. So a lot. If you want to see what it looks like when it goes wrong look at WB. Point is Disney just did all of that to acquire the NFL Network. It basically purchased 3 new games from the NFL, sold a 10% stake of itself and acquired 3 networks. WHy? Because they wanted more football the most profitable live streaming content you can buy. This deal with WWE for PPV's probably got worked out while ESPN was positioning to do the NFL deal, years ago, when WWE rights fees were up and they were shopping them. ESPN took a look, and saw it as an option if the price was right or the NFL thing didnt move. Both businesses got what they wanted. Now same thing. ESPN gets extra content and has a closer relationship with WWE when the rights deals come up again. WWE gets a separate deal on a bigger network, and also gains leverage over its other network vendors when their deals end. Disney is not going to buy WWE anytime before then. And like I said TKO is not interested in offloading. The value of their property is going up. The more deals they secure the more value. Like a new Saudi deal which will be announced soon.

The rest of the world can pay $10 or $11 whatever their equivalent is and get every raw that's on TV. They get Smackdown. They get everything that we have to watch on cable on Netflix.
