i really enjoyed finlay this g1. i feel like hes also the best at being a proper tweener in njpw. if you cheer him, whatever. if you dont, fuck you. not that he gets many boos these days.

Did you have a favorite G1 match this year, webmbro?

I really liked Finlay too. I think his performances against Takeshita and Boltin were his best, I think he excels at playing a brawler who's clearly smart in-ring but backs it up with pure power. I don't love him or War Dogs as anything except heels, but it looks like they're going that direction after the finals so I'm not too mad.
>Did you have a favorite G1 match this year, webmbro?
Oiwa vs. Uemura, by a lot. One of my favorites of the year overall, and I really, really hope it's a sign of things to come, G1 results aside.

>Oiwa vs. Uemura
My brother! That was my match of the G1, and it could find it's way into my top 10 for the year... maybe.

Kenoh vs. KENTA was better than it had any right to be, Ashino had a few bangers in the first half of the year, YAMATO's DG reign produced some excellent matches, Despe and Kasai were electric every time they crossed paths, Astronauts are still tag team of the year, Toru Sugiura is still putting out some of the best death matches, Dick Togo vs. Daisuke Sasaki was a surprise, and I'm a sucker for Suzuki's DDT work this year. Fingers crossed Kazusada, Kitamiya, Soya, and Hideki Suzuki join the list before years end. Who knows...
Anonymous No.18626224
Speaking of best performances, this match was by far my favorite Tsuji match since his debut match against SANADA. He's got the in-ring presence of a bully and is by far at his best when he plays that up, especially against the rest of his generation.
>>18626144
Yes and no. These webms from the playoffs were meant to be posted last week, but the thread died while I was asleep and when I got back late on the Saturday I didn't feel like starting a new thread for just a couple of hours. The finals were last Sunday, so they'd still be posted this week regardless.

Personally, what I'm waiting for is Nakajima starting to gel with the GLEAT roster, or, really, the GLEAT roster starting to gel with him. There are a ton of great matches to be had there on paper, you can just tell that egos and heat are getting in the way. It sucks because his run in NOAH between 2021 and him leaving is one of my favorites in modern wrestling.

Hmm... if I had to guess; Kazusada vs. HARASHIMA? ...or KANON?

Couldn't be Manabu Soya, he's been hovering at a B+ this year. Not a patch on his 2024 or 2023 work.

Kitamiya had a lackluster 2025 so far, a shame given the excellent 2024 he had... but now this heel turn with Team2000X is promising big things. I predict a MOTY candidate from him in the N-1 Victory.

Hideki hasn't done tremendously well in singles this year, Carnival was decent. I guess you could be referring to the recent tag with Mashimo... I remember liking it a lot but the main event of that show blew me away, so maybe it stole some thunder.

That reminds me: Rising HAYATO vs. Atsuki Aoyagi was excellent. That show was kind of a turning point for AJPW, everything after the Carnival was a snooze but 8/3 had at least 5 decent to great matches and only one DUD. Fuck Kuroshio.

I haven't seen that AJPW show yet, but the way you're talking about it makes it seem very promising. I'll definitely go out of my way to check it out now that NJPW is in off-season.
It's interesting that you find the Kitamiya heel turn as intriguing as you do. I liked what I've seen from him since turning, but it was nothing that completely blew me away. I agree that he needed to spice himself up somehow, but I really dislike the unfortunate tendency of every heel stable just becoming member magnets eventually.

It's not the heel turn, in and of itself, that interests me it's that Kitamiya needed something to do. He had a great series with Ishii last year, but NOAH did nothing with it and obviously Ishii can't just stick around to keep building.

...kind of a similar story for Kitamiya with his rivalry with Nakajima before that. They were seemingly placed as rivals for the foreseeable future then... Nakajima had his "travel lust" let's call it.

He needed the spotlight, and if a heel turn finally puts him front and center so be it. Sugiura has always been the most selfless of the NOAH original, so I trust him to stand aside for Kitamiya... hopefully after they have a big falling out and blood feud but I digress.

>>18626397
Missed this post. Agreed 100%

Nakajima is one of my favorite wrestlers in the world and, as much as I like GLEAT... there's just not a ton of excitement here. I won't spoil the most recent GLEAT show but there were two key developments that give me hope.

This would rock, but with Sugi just turning to T2000X and Morris seemingly being out I don't know if I see another one getting kicked out so soon. Maybe I'm not caught up enough on NOAH though.
>I won't spoil the most recent GLEAT show but there were two key developments that give me hope.

No rush for the blood feud. First things first... let's get the GHC on Kitamiya!

You're the GLEAT OG. I enjoyed seeing the highlights in your thread but never gave it a look, until Nakajima went over. I had the impression for the longest time that it was just a second-rate DragonGate. All flips and the like... had no idea there was a bit of Bati Bati and UWF pseudo shoot stuff too.

Ironically I think the company was way better until he joined. I love him, but he just isn't performing the way he should and is really overshadowing the rest of the roster. The first year of the G-REX is the company's peak in my opinion.

Weird. I almost hope Tsuji's injury was a shoot (although I really doubt that) just to give NJPW some kinda leeway with the booking. I'm torn on it, because both EVIL and Takeshita are good choices for finalists, they just shouldn't match up against each other. EVIL would be great to put over a NJPW face, or just win it outright and do some complete fuckshit. Takeshita would also be great as a finalist, but specifically as a bully who gets OVERCOME by the NJPW guy. Having an outsider be the "Savior of NJPW" is so fucking weird.

May just have been me, but the way Takeshita sold his leg towards the second half of this match COMPLETELY took me out of it. I'm usually a fan of the way he handles selling in a onger-paced match, but so many of his sells were really overdramatic in cartoonish way that really didn't fit in the finals of the G1. I was genuinely rooting for EVIL just because Takeshita didn't feel like a hero anymore, he felt like a wounded animal that should get mercy-killed. Such a weird end to a weird finals.
That's all for me for today, and all for NJPW for a little while. Tomorrow I'll be playing catch-up with NOAH and Dragon Gate, and maybe something else too if I find the time. I hope we stay up until then! Either way, thank you all for spending some time in my thread tonight. Goodnight, bros.

Primarily, a source. Telling me "make webms of this" and making me look for it myself is a great way to ensure me putting it off or not doing it at all. What the other anon said, time ranges help a lot too, especially if it's a longer video. Lastly, just asking nicely for it, not just dumping a link in my thread and expecting to come back to finished webms. That's all for me for this week! Next week I'll be back with AJPW and GLEAT, and probably some King's Road to fill the thread out too if nothing else has gone under my radar. Thank you all for spending some time in my thread, for discussing and making your requests! It's been a pleasure as always. I'll see you again next week. Goodnight, bros.
