If by "lately" you mean a few weeks, that's normal. If it goes on longer than that, you may need to sleep when you're sleep deprived.
Short naps are also a good way to start dreaming in a more controlled way.

I stopped doing dream stuff, because it always became gay tranny shit that I want to ignore. But I tried for a while and this is what helped me remember my dreams and have more awareness in them. Before you go to sleep, say to yourself over and over
>I am going to dream
Do not use your phone or anything else right before going to bed. Like try and separate your sleeping shit further from anything else. So no food, phone, drinks, etc. Just sit for a bit thinking on how you will have a dream and then immediately turn off the lights and sleep.

And lastly which wont help your problem if you cant remember anything at all is to document them asap. Like first thing when you wake up, try writing down anything you can remember, even if it is just vague or a feeling. Recording anything makes it easier to have more complete recollection later, so even if all you can remember is
>I felt sad
write that down.
