That's because during the Clinton-Bush era Canada actually had some things that were superior to the US. But since then the US has either gotten better (telecommunications) or Canada has gotten worse (healthcare). But boomers act like it's still 2006.
Canada's economy actually did ok during the great recession that's how strong it used to be. But years of bureaucratic bloat, zoning laws, "degrowth" policies, price controls, fuck tons of red tape, tons of unskilled immigrants lowing the value of workers, money printing, etc, the Economy has stagnating for decades. If Trump tarrifs Canada it's basically game over.
