Any discourse on housing is utterly pointless unless you're willing to address the elephant in the room of demand outstripping supply by nearly a million units year on year for like the past five years due to mass immigration.

Anyway it's not about entitlement. Maybe there are ways we can make things fairer though. People 50 years ago bought houses for much less money, relative to the average wage, compared to today. So for the sake of fairness, measures should be taken to make housing for young adults today more affordable.

Honestly just add like some kind of customary charge to any interaction with the NHS. Make it non-prohibitive, but real. Want to see a GP? Okay, fine, but you need to cough up ten pounds. Hospital appointment? Okay, also fine, but it's gonna be ten pounds. A&E visit? Ten pounds.
You can't have a universal right of access and zero cost at the point of use and not have demand outstrip supply, especially with something perceived (real or not) as such high value as healthcare. You need a way to decide who goes to the front of the line.

Lets say I'm A and I want the third exit. I go in the inner lane and circle around, but now I need to cut across the outer lane to move into the third exit. So what happens when someone at B wants the same exit, since they would have to go around the outer lane to get there. How does A avoid cutting across B and getting rear-ended?

>>81733758be will be on the left hand side and you'll be on the right inner ring, you check your mirror and signal left after the second exit so you can see if anyone is going to cut into you, lets say if B is going whilst you are youd see this because in theory B gives way to you so youd be ahead, youd just veer off onto the right hand side of the road youre going into innit, being on the right is okay as long as you go back into the left

It costs around about 50,000 to get your PPL and then modular CPL and I simply cannot afford it. Not to mention that even if I got a PPL and CPL I'd be like 33 or so before even beginning to apply for actual jobs because it would need to be extremely part time, and nobody is going to hire a 33 year old fresh pilot.

As for what I could do to get more money well there's the potential for some extra work, but it's literally only like 1/2 hours a week more at time and a half. I've done periods where I've opted to try before and sure it makes a few quid more a week but it never seems to go anywhere. My life savings are, right now, 538 GP. Every time I save money there's always something that hits me back. Rent goes up. Nearby food shop that was cheapest closed. Something needs fixing etc. I look around for jobs all the time but I'm not qualified for anything. I have a fake degree and no experience in any field beyond things like shelf stacking, kitchen cleaning, did some delivery app work when very desperate for money too a few years back.
I really have tried but I feel as though I'm just not a very competent, intelligent, high-agency person. Not everyone is or can be, but it just hurts when you know you're not and yet your dream was always to have the life of someone who is like that instead. It's locked out to you. Feels quite bleak.

If anyone turns up they just sort of ignore them and make them feel unwelcome until they leave.
>>81734414He doesn't need blind optimism, but he also doesn't need to be crushed into believing he's fundamentally incapable. What he actually needs is a realistic path forwards. There's a big difference between encouraging someone and pumping them full of unrealistic dreams.
>>81734419Lad I'm not asking you to go all-in or make some big mental push. I get why your'e hesitant. But honestly this isn't about the helicopters. Whether you give up hope of your dream career or not, stop punishing yourself. You're allowed to believe you're worthy of something good. >>81734359Personally I don't believe in reincarnation or heaven. There's no evidence of those things. I think they're just wishful thinking.
A person's personality is just the electrical and chemical activity in their brain. When you die, your brain cells die. Oxygenated blood is no longer being pumped into your brain. The electrical and chemical activity of your brain ceases, and your brain slowly rots. Your personality will no longer exist because your brain will decompose. That's what I believe anyway.

Or do you think that some people are just incapable of obtaining/preforming certain jobs due to limitations in their ability/intelligence/physical attributes and so on?
I would say I believe the latter. I wish the lad well, but maybe he's right that he isn't cut out. Perhaps his brain just isn't sharp enough, he isn't able to operate complex machinery or whatever else criteria disqualifies you from becoming a helicopter pilot. It's sad, but it's the reality of the world around us. No, not everyone can become Einstein is they study hard enough, not everyone can become Ronaldo if they practice enough and for this lad, not everyone can be a helicopter pilot even if they really, really want to.

Of course there are punishments for acting immorally (prison, fines, rejection by friends and family). But some people do get away with terrible things. Like Hitler and his regime murdering millions of people in death camps. I don't think they feared punishment in an afterlife - if they had then they probably wouldn't have committed mass murder. Unfortunately I think some people do get away with heinous crimes without facing much punishment. That's why we should invest in the criminal justice system in order to prevent and punish crime wherever possible.
>>81734563Every machine is designed to be as easy to use as possible, the problem is the limits of design on complex machinery mean that not everyone CAN use all machine. People don't make machines needlessly complicated, but that doesn't mean anyone can run a nuclear reactor or pilot a helicopter competently.
>>81734547The mistake here is assuming he's failed because of some fundamental incapability, rather than external circumstances or setbacks. From what he's said, he hasn't even been given a fair chance to find out if he's capable yet. And it's perfectly fair to help him find a realistic path forward so he can actually find out what is possible.
Writing someone off completely before theyv'e had a genuine shot is just defeatist rather than realistic. Obviously not everyone can be Ronaldo or Einstein and perhaps not everyone can be a helicopter pilot either, but people need room to figure out their capabilities, rather than people deciding for them they are incapable.

>>81734612Lad c'mon, he didn't "fail the inteviews". There's a limited number of funded places and they proceeded with other candidates. That doesn't mean he's fundamentally incapable of flying a helicopter, that's just silly. No one turned him down in those interviews because they thought that.

Drop a nuke right here, lots of problems go away. Just saying. Interesting thought experiment.
>>81734646I'm thinking about it and to me it would just cause problems.
I'm the biggest loser here by far
>>81734646i would love to see the fallout from this. Could very possibly break the "nothing happens" streak
>>81734639I can't prove there isn't a god, but come on certainly the generic omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent type of god figure that most religious people believe in is virtually guaranteed to not exist. The contradictions are just too heavy and numerous.

Grown man. Every meal he eats has the same instructions printed on it. Preheat oven to 180C, remove sleeve, pierce film, place in centre of baking tray. Still checks them each time.
>>81734672I don't think we understand the origins of the universe yet. I think it's still a mystery at the moment. Maybe if science does more work, then one day we might find out how/why the universe was created.
>>81734707Kek, I saw that in the catalog and thought that looked like me for a second, had to do a double take
>>81734715I don't think so. The question of "Why is there something instead of nothing?" will never be answered by science. It's unanswerable.
>>81734708>Preheat oven to 180C, remove sleeve, pierce film, place in centre of baking tray. Still checks them each time.very specific, almost like you're very familiar with this procedure yourself
>>81734704Suffering, divine hiddenness, conflicting revelation, Euthyphro problem and prayer lacking efficacy are the big ones imo.

>>81734781Had enough of you eating fast food twice a day, I'll come down that care home and force you to eat proper food
>>81734715If youre gna wait 500 yrs for an answer there wont be one cus everybodys got too depressed nd killed themself,,Ppl would be so much better off following the bible now.Cus it could just take science 1000 years to prove the bible has always been true.Nd then youd look pretty silly.I think thats way more likely than the ongoing cinematic 3D film we exist in jst popped out of nowhere which didnt exist as a concept of a vacuum either until the universe that didnt exist before existence nd so on its just silly imo. How would that happen.
>>81734781I could smell it outside.Like salt n chips n fried chicken kinda smell all mixed together. It nice.
Guys from work are going out drinking and I wasn't invited. Found out when one of the other staff mentioned it in front of me, then they akwardy started laughing. Not sure why it's bothered me, I wouldn't even be that bothered about going but not even an invite. I thought I got on well with most of them desu, suppose it's only work at the end of the day.
>>81734730Why do you think that? Humans used to think "why do things fall downwards instead of upwards" - and we answered that question. The answer is gravity. So why can't science also eventually answer the question "why is there something instead of nothing"?
>>81734804My stance is that we just don't yet know what the origins of the universe were. Maybe the universe was created by a god. But maybe it wasn't. I don't think we know yet.
*turns the telly on* Did u turn the telly on? No it wasnt me mate its just always been on...............it turned itself on.........Its been on for billions of years.........Oh right......Makes perfect sense.......................NOT!
>>81734771i liked repo man. have you watched repo chick?
>>81734830it's a shabbat telly, its always on then you can still watch telly on shabbat without breaking the rules
>>81734825Science could answer the question "why do things fall downwards instead of upwards?" because it's a question about the behaviour of the physical universe. It's about mechanisms, patterns and laws that can actually be observed within the universe.
"Why is there something instead of nothing?" is fundamentally different. You can't observe or test things that can't be tested or observed.

>>81734830People say 'T-there's nothing after you die, it's just like before you were born!'
Yet they accept it can go from nothing to something, yet apparently after you die it goes back to nothing, but can't return to something
My codeine hangover to get over the alcohol hangover but i took too many by accident is finally wearing off, felt wired all day
conciousness is the main thing, that's the ultimate qualia that science will never have an explanation for
Just kind of funny to me to see something as trivial as a contradiction in the bible and then see christians go mental for hundreds if not thousands of years desperately trying to reconcile the obviously contradictory bits of text.
>Mark 6:8 'Take nothing for the journey except a staff - no bread, no bag, no money in your belts.'
>Luke 9:3 'Take nothing for the journey - no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.'
Should they take a staff or not? Seething christian autists have written thousands of pages trying to say that NO ACKSHULLY THERE'S NO CONTRADICTION REEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Just funny really.

>>81734867>Should they take a staff or not?couldn't care less, my belief in god isn't based in bible theology

>>81734854>"Why is there something instead of nothing?" is fundamentally different.I don't think so. Potentially if we examine the universe enough then we might find evidence to answer the question of why the universe exists. I think religious people like to just say "No! Science can't answer that, because I say so! Therefore God must exist!"
