everything is a fucking performance nowadays
i've been trying to plan a little outing in the northeast with my friends in late fall/early winter
nothing major, just want to spend a few days in a cozy little cabin, go on a hike or two, go to a cool local festival a prof told me about, and take in the ambiance to celebrate finishing grad school apps
but now, the more we talk about it, the more i'm convinced zoomers have been conditioned to hate the idea of adventure. they absolutely need to find the maximized (in re social currency) experiences.
>they cannot find anything worthwhile unless they're absolutely convinced other people they never talk to think it's cool
i'm probably just going to go alone.

>nothing major
>Just come with me to a freezing cold murder cabin in the middle of nowhere bro also you'll get no relief or time to yourself because we'll spend the whole time with sore legs and audiovisual festival stimulus overload for several days on end
I'm sorry OP... I know, I know... It's just... I'm not going. UGHHHH I know... I'm just not going. AAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

>freezing cold murder cabin
the places nearby are actually pretty nice. i went with my ex-gf my freshman year and she really liked it. the place is near a quaint little college town and has an active small-town community.
>spend the whole time with sore legs
ok tubby
>audiovisual festival stimulus overload
>imagine a retard breaking down at a farmer's market
kek. very funny, anon.

Dude you sound like you're a complete loser. You've never stayed in a cabin before? What are you so married to your computer? Pathetic

That's manufactured adventure though. It's safe, controlled, predictable, i.e it's a performance.

this is just how its like being friends with normgroids, i know from experience. they always care more about how something affects how they are perceived than the thing itself. everything is just about appearances and doing what others are doing simply because others are doing it. when the new fotm game comes out, theyll hop on, play for 2 weeks, and when it stops getting shoved up their ass on their tiktok fyp theyll stop playing because its not as cool to play it anymore, rinse and repeat. their entire life is dedicated to clinging onto the zeitgeist. i hope you can figure out a sensible arrangement with them, OP.

also, the game in that picture looks pretty keyed. have you played it and is it any good?

Thank God for you pointing this out. Ive had this same problem with some of my IRLS. No one likes the idea of just enjoying something without posting it, or without turning it into some big event.
I recently went to go to a trendy cafe with a friend of mine in the city, but the line was super fucking long. I suggested we just take the food to go, sandwiches, and get a beer or two, drink and eat in a local park since the sunset was coming soon and the weather was lovely. They acted like I actually crapped all over their plans for not wanting to sit in and tip a fuckass waitress after waiting in line for 30 minutes. Food wasnt even that good.
Funniest part is, they still posted about it. Just fucking enjoy the moment. The whole time they were on their phone too replying to messages and stuff. Annoyed the fuck out of me, even tho I am also pretty online most of the time

hell yeah. a few weeks ago I rented a nice cabin up in the gifford-pinchot national forest and it was great. air conditioner, wood fireplace, hot tub inside, etc. did a couple of fun hikes, randomly helped some people who got banged up in an ice cave, did a lot of grillin and drinkin. shit was ideal

anyway this isn't just a zoomer thing. I'm in my late 40s and nearly everyone I know is like that, and I don't know very many people younger than 35. was not the case 15 years ago with the same group of people

seriously, live in the moment, and put it into your memories instead of your phone. it's why I almost never go to concerts anymore. fuck, I was recently at a movie and one idiot watched half the movie via her phone camera. smartphones were a mistake

Yeah OP should just leap blindly into shark infested waters and try to survive against all odds. That is a real adventure.

I'm so jelly anon. I'm pretty much constrained to the east coast until I graduate but someday I want to take one of those cross-country amtraks...
