i've been studying some music theory and surprisingly enough im starting to understand a few things. hopefully i'll also be able to read sheet music eventually, it doesnt seem too hard once you know the basics. i started a journal aswell, and i have to say it does help me feel a bit better each time i write in it. its like taking a weight off myself. enough about me though.

today i dreamed i was dashing across some battlefield, it was on a shore, full of piers, ports and dry docks, a naval base it looked like
and felt like it too, it was being bombarded for some reason, i guess it was wartime but i was dashing through it trying not to get blasted
but then i had an out of body experience and watched myself running across the field, only to die in an explosion from an artillery shell hitting the side of a dry dock where a ship was
i moved over to my mangled up corpse and just... poked it, but someone else died with me, and his soul was sitting there near mine and telling me not to poke a dead guy, so i went poke him as well
he had an appearance of a balloon dog looking thing, but humanoid at the same time... it's weird to try and explain it, but he got all sad that i was poking him so i gave him a warm hug instead
the kid really liked it so i gave him another one, and apologized for getting us both killed, i guess i blocked his path or something and only realized it later

after i woke up, i was still sad about it
i hope that kid is doing okay, wish i could give him another hug
... frankly i'm not even sure if that was a he or a she, i just assume, lol

p.s. for futaba anon, if you want and don't mind it, i could mail you my old pc parts, right now we're talking about a ryzen 5 2600 cpu + gigabyte b450m gaming motherboard
there will be more to come later as i upgrade other parts but that should get you started, i think
you'll need a network card to work with this motherboard though, its ethernet port never worked, but a network card is really cheap
you'll also need ddr4 ram and a dedicated gpu as the ryzen 2600 doesn't come with integrated graphics, but so long as you check those boxes, i can mail them over to you

and no, i'm not gonna charge anything
i just won't really use those parts and they still work despite their age (cpu is like, closing in on 8 years i think, motherboard is about 3-4 years old)
they might see better use in your hands than in a dumpster, they're just a bit dusty... but i'll brush them later.

I'm devastated to learn that I could have seen Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa two days ago and didn't. That's what I get for not using social media...

you need ram, you need a power supply, you need a cooler, you need a mass storage device for your OS and other stuff, and depending on your cpu, you may also need a gpu (some don't come with integrated graphics)
take one of these out and your rig won't work, or it will for a little while before failing, sometimes catastrophically

The oldheads there are still very close. I know a few users even got married thanks to that site.
There was a documentary about it called EarthBound, USA which documents the forum, which is an interesting if incredibly niche watch but still quite interesting. Although I'm not sure how much you'd get out of it if you've never browsed it.
For a while people were convinced it was vapourware and they just took the money and ran but it did eventually come out after huge delays. It was inexplicably shown at my local cinema in the UK for a bit.

It doesn't really go into why they like EarthBound so much, you just have to accept they do. It's a bit (well, very) masturbatory but it's a nice watch if you miss the old days of forums like that.

They translated 1 but didn't release it because the Super Nintendo was already out and they figured no one would buy it, so they just sat on it until they could sell it on the Wii U decades later. 2 was released but approximately no one bought it so they didn't bother translating 3. It was mostly a sore throat. I'm doing better today. I think it's because I was sweating yesterday and had a strong wind on me before I could dry off. I absolutely hate a sore throat. It fucks with your general feeling and with your sleep. Id rather have a runny nose, because at least that's manageable to some degree.
