I disagree, its only that execution of these powers happened more quietly for a long time, whereas now its more overt. Deportations for instance, are happening at an even slower rate than under the Obama admin. Censorship on social media happened quietly behind the scenes for ages. Media was told what to do behind the scenes. You were(and still are) constantly spied on through things like operation PRISM and other programs under the patriot act. The only reason you're really hearing about it now is because the current admin is largely at odds with legacy media, so they report on it more.

Overall, I'm somewhat pleased with what's happening, aside from the obvious Israeli bootlicking. If there were no foreign influence in the govt, then I would be satisfied with the current admin.
