i did once and when i went in a 2nd time i was told that time i would have to do a blood test only because it turned out the first time my protein levels had been too low to be donation worthy. and look man i eat a lot of meat. basically in addition to meat i would have to eat a LOT more beans, peanut butter, eggs than i care to and (in the case of eggs) can afford to be qualifying donor. too much nonsense.

I used to work at a plasma donation center about a decade ago.
They can tell when you eat like shit, because there is fat floating in your plasma bottle.

It is entirely possible there was a mixup with the results. Blood tests aren't done in-house, and the labeling and packing process for blood vials is all manual, so getting them mixed up isn't impossible. All it would take is the dumbass in the back putting the wrong barcode on a vial.
