>see unpopular item for sale
>price is ridiculous
>never sells either
>they just keep it at that price indefinitely even though it never sells
Whats up with the modern market where people refuse to take a loss ever even if they end up taking a loss anyway over time holding onto bullshit rather than pocketing and reinvesting the lower sale? This is especially true in real estate, but the example i saw was guns. Factory new guns that are like 10 years old because the caliber and model didnt take off and theres tons of them out there but no one buys them ever and the price never lowers

Just look at the picture, anon. All the pipes have a line blocking them except number 2. That's the trick for the image. I hate it.

try looking at it from the sellers point of view:
>trying to sell _____
>go to flea market
>pay for booth space
>put out wears
>give reasonable price based on how much time it took to make, how much materials cost, and how much profit you can make
>literally every customer is some faggot who wants to buy what you've got so they can resell it on ebay for twice as much
>how much for these sunglasses?
>they're looking up the price online as they're talking to you
>they're not for sale. I'm wearing them.
>I'll give you $50.
>they cost $200. You know this because you bought them last month.
>they're not for sale
>they walk away to go scam someone else
>"cheapskate" they call you

Most people have too much money. That's why we have inflation. There is no reason to rush to lower prices.

Unless the price of storage space goes up, they don't have to sell shit. It's a global market now and they just play the waiting game and things will sell eventually.

There was a time when people had to move product fast. They'd cut you deals, you could talk them down, clearances were common. Not anymore. The item can be stored in a giant warehouse in the middle of fucking nowhere Arizona while the business operates out of Michigan, electronic inventory systems make it a breeze to ship shit now.

Something that doesn't go obsolete, like a gun, can sit indefinitely if need be. The new bullets aren't going to be incompatible with it (maybe if Apple starts making guns they will).

I've noticed this with tech items like CPUs and GPUs. On my country's version of Amazon, you can buy an AMD Ryzen 2700x, new, in box with a warranty. That CPU came out in 2018 and is now several generations old. Yet it costs more than a Ryzen 5700X that's better in every way. Or if you really want a 2700x for some reason, you can find them second hand for like less than a quarter of the price of the new one. On the GPU side, you can get a new 2016 Nvidia GTX 1050Ti for almost the same price as a much faster and newer Radeon RX6600. The price on that 1050Ti has not changed at all since 2020. I don't know what the sellers of these things are thinking. Maybe people are so dumb that eventually some sucker will pay that price?
