Basically, if you want to be good at math, then study math! Very esoteric thing to say, I know. That doesn't mean that some people aren't more talented than others, but if you look at the data, the average IQ for math and physics majors is around 130, which is high but not insanely so, especially when taking into account the fact that studying math and physics is shown to increase IQ score. That is to say, you don't need to be a mega genius to be a mathematician or a physicist; if you work hard and are passionate about it, you can still contribute to the sum of human knowledge, even if you don't become a household name.
