Well, wiggers in the 2000s were the minority. They were widely mocked outside of their circles. Alternative/nerd/goth/emo kids in the 2000s would relentlessly mock them, and would shit on "crap music" and Afro-sports culture. There was a clear line of cultural distinction between these groups.

But in the 2020s, this distinction no longer exists. You can interact with a group of zoomers who are autistic anime nerds, who spend 100% of their time watching Japanese cartoons and playing Japanese video games, and they will STILL be heavily culturally influenced by blacks: Speaking in Afro slang ("blud", "yapping", "ahh", etc) and referencing ghetto/rap culture constantly.

Why is this? What is it that made the zoomer generation develop such a disturbing fetishism for Afro-American culture?

Blacks always had a cultural influence, of course. But this was never universally accepted. You always had a group of people (often a majority of people) who rejected that ghetto-style culture and refused to engage with it.

The term "wigger" itself comes from 2000s nerd/goth/emo culture. Millennial kids who reviled the hip hop/gang-influenced culture of normalfags would mock it by calling the people who imitated it "wiggers". This was never seen as an offensive term back then, it was widely accepted in fact.

But in the 2020s, this is no longer the case. Today's "nerd/goth/emo" kids are culturally indistinguishable from a 16 year old ghetto black kid who listens to rap music and parrots all the current Afro-slang.

The new, and unprecedented, thing is how widespread Afro-culture is today. Even the zoomers who claim to be "alternative" or "nerdy" will follow Afro-culture religiously, and speak in Afro-slang 24/7. This was not the case 20, or even 10, years ago.

In 2005, or even 2015, you could easily have a group of young alternative-styled white kids who leaned politically left, and yet despised ghetto culture and "crap music" and thought of it as un-intellectual. In fact, that viewpoint was extremely common in certain spaces back then.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, in 2025 you can easily have a group of edgy zoomer /pol/tards who embrace Afro-culture, calling people "Blud" or talking about "crash outs" or calling someone a "gay ahh nigga", etc. And they don't see any irony whatsoever in doing so.

I don't think it's political at all. There is simply something fundamentally different about the zoomer brain which causes them to be much more receptive to Afro-culture and Afro-slang, regardless of their personal beliefs.

first off, you're honestly hitting a lot of good points.

i didn't really have that culture around me growing up. the most afro-american thing i did in my childhood (i.e. pre-highschool) was listen to a bit of rap music.

i think part of why my generation has such a big thing for this culture is just because of the fact that these things became more acceptable, i guess? specifically how schools took a much harsher stance against bullying based on that sort of thing since gen z started entering school. plus, in my own experience, there's a LOT more cultural intermingling now, as we speak, than in the 2000's or 2010's.

The problem is that 10 or 20 years ago you weren't alive and don't know that you are simply wrong.
