I've picked up japanese when I was 16, stopped doing that stuff when I was like 20. It's been 5 years since I've touched any jap media, and I forgot most of the intricate kanji there is. Whenever I see somebody with some shirt that has japanese writing on it, I can still understand 70-100 percent of it.

The best thing is that when you know all the common simple kanji, you can sometimes guess what a word is even when you never seen it before. Take the words vending machine or glove for example. You can never be taught the word but you could just guess and get it right. People try and fearmonger about the multiple writing system but trust me, reading jap would be a whole lot harder if it was just hiragana and katakana. So that's my advice to you if you are beginner and are trying to read, to just focus on the kanji.

Is there any way to fly from the usa to japan without spending like $1000 on a plane ticket?

I think the time tracking addon is completely off. Each day reviewing the like 120 cards takes me a solid hour, if not 90 minutes. So it should be at least 7 hours.

The amount of time it takes up is part of why it's wearing me out

Reduce the number of cards per day and start mining from anime. Nowadays it takes only a single click.

There are some anime that are very easy to understand without being too brainded like Cardcaptor Sakura. Go here to check their difficulty levels : https://learnnatively.com/

I was doing language exchange with natives, but my chudness started showing. I would get blackout drunk and type out rants. This is after I already got shunned for accidentally saying rude shit to someone years ago. I knew no-one would care, and I would always hear perfect sounding projections of Japanese women saying some form of "Kimo yatsu~"
Japan is not a place for the suicidal schizoid chud, or the off-topic. It's a place for introverts, and high functioning autists with normal social skills. Talking to Japanese people was hard because I could always intuit they just wanted to leave the conversation. There was a time I wanted to visit Japan again, but it seems unrealistic now.
Being among Japanese is fucking lonely. If you mess up even once, you alert the hivemind and are shunned permanently.
If you're not 100% Japanese genetics; even if you learn the language, even if you dedicate yourself to following their unseen rules, even if you were raised there; you're not Japanese, you're gaikokujin or at worst, gaijin. There are white people who grew up their entire lives in Japan, and still get comments everyday like "Nihongo umai", or "how long have you studied", or they'll still just try to speak english with you.

That does sound like it sucks, however I'm learning Japanese largely so I can enjoy the gigantic amount of Japanese media without subtitles that will never be translated. Stuff like the PS2 evangelion game that is untranslated.

Also I feel like everyone already hates me and wants to leave conversation with me ASAP living in my native country (US) and speaking in english.

I don't fit in regardless of where I go so it makes no difference. I'd rather not fit in in Japan than anywhere else.
