Because we do not properly act in accordance with unwritten social rules and conventions, or to the extent that we do follow them, we are not as weary of them to the same level of fluency as normal people. normal people are constantly radiating signals through body language, tone, word choice, even who they interact with. i am myself and have always been myself with integrity, and i thought everyone else was the same. turns out my presence is a stain on otherwise normal social groups (coworkers, strangers, family). i wouldn't mind letting normal people have their spaces and being a neet shut-in who never leaves my room, but it's just not possible. i think most people want us to die or disappear even if they don't explicitly say it.

They are not uniquely identifying autists as the issue, they just see the behaviors of autists (and all other non-autistic weird people) as weird.
