You don't have ADHD - You're just a Sloth
I spent years thinking I couldn't do anything productive because of my ADHD. I'd spend hours dreading doing something without actually doing it. I'd tell myself that if I did something for at least 15 minutes that was productive, I could then take a break, and if nothing else that day, I'd have done 15 minutes of productive work. That 15 minutes almost always ended up being enjoyable and then the rest of the day was spent dreading doing more.

Then one day I just decided to just go neck-deep into work. I wanted to learn web development. HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc. I "planned" on doing 30 minutes and it turned into 3 hours. Then 2 more hours. Because it was fucking fun just stimulating my brain again after so long and doing something that felt like my life finally had some fucking meaning. It wasn't even hard. I didn't need to take breaks. My brain was actually lost into it and i wanted MORE. This wasn't just with web development, but anything even remotely interesting. I didn't need to be passionate about it, just something that was at least neat.

And when I lived like this, I was a lot happier than just doing nothing all day in some monotonous routine.

>that was productive

I have lost the ability to characterise any excretion of effort as such

Good for you OP, sounds like you've sorted out your life. I'm supposed to be working on a long-term project right now. Sometimes (like you) I work on it for hours and the time just flies by. But then other days I just can't face it and I fiddle around, wasting time and getting nothing done, or I bury myself in a pointless "side-project", or I just get busy with the day to day shit like doing laundry or cooking dinner, or making little efforts into tidying up this hoarder's nightmare I call home.

Maybe I really DO have ADHD.

I am lazy and don't blame it on any illness, but I just find all productivity boring. Even when I plan to do things, something tires me out quickly. My eyes lose focus, I get sleepy, I get aches, and I can force myself to do it anyways but it's never fun.

Anon that's a sign that you DO have ADHD. Hyperfixation and tunnel focus are hallmark symptoms. The name for ADHD is kind of a misnomer because in practicality ADHD is more about attention mismanagement in general than a blanket deficit.

Why is it that so often when people make huge revelatory sweeping statements about mental conditions on this website they demonstrate that they don't know what they are talking about?
