I'm not really familiar with them, but I've seen a lot of Russian and post-Soviet music get talked about online these past few years, I'm not sure where people find this stuff. I'm more of a metalhead so my discoveries are limited to Zmey Gorynich (some of the songs off Mother Russia are just amazing even if I don't understand a word they're saying) and Grai.

I believe the main reason for this is that he is one of the philosophers whose been overlooked until recently, primarily because of his beliefs and school of philosophy I feel. It was only in 2024 that we got an English translation of any of his works. Even still that is limited to only the first of two volumes of The Philosophy of Redemption (with no plans to translate the second volume), and his memoir.
With that said I feel this other 'doomer' will become popular too if any of his works actually receive translations.

Unfortunately outside of Germany neither are very well known, however both of my doomers make those two look like beacons of sunlight in comparion. Mainlander used copies of his magnum opus as a step stool to hang himself out of his own conviction of his philosophy, his sister joined him shortly after. However the second doomer's philosophy has even more hopeless conclusions.

I like some of that as well, but usually mainstream stuff like In Flames and The Halo Effect rather than the really extreme stuff. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to give them a listen.

It's getting more common these days, usually combined with folk metal, similar to the stuff I mentioned earlier actually. I have a bunch saved from various countries, but my bookmarks are a mess.

It's interesting that this kind of creation myth is common among philosophers, whether they're pessimists or not. Nietzsche was fond of it in the form of Dionysus getting torn to pieces and his severed members forming the world. Chaos, as a primordial abyss in Greek mythology, was also sometimes interpreted as an irreconcilable gap between Earth and Sky, sometimes even as a gaping wound resulting from some kind of primordial separation. In retrospect, I feel this last one is a bit forced. Some guy from the Balkans just describing himself and his friends.

I'm not sure what to make of wojaks like pic related, there are a few variations. They're not strictly speaking doomer, but they feel close enough for me. But I'm not gonna dwell on it now as I have to leave.
