I didn't really think much of the belle sauvage or the secret commonwealth when I first read them when they came out, can't believe that was 2017 and 2019, almost twenty five years ago now.

I think my problem was that it had been a good long while since I'd last read his dark materials so I'd forgotten a lot of characters and nuance and just knew the general outline. Having been on audiobook tip lately however I steamrolled through the materials and Lyra's Oxford and immediately jumped into the new series and thoroughly enjoyed them. They both got a bit bogged down here and there but the originals had a similar problem, Pullman is a very good author but he does tend to get carried away beating the crap out of you with his religion bad messaging. The new ones go a bit hard on the you-must-have-empathy for those less fortunate than you, and the chapter with the refugees in the sea was really very pointless for the story, I get the point but move on already.

Thatbeingsaidalthoughbeit I am very much looking forward to the final one coming out next month. I hope he doesn't fumble it as I expect a joyous reunion between Lyra and Pan and hopefully the older handsome smart and all round great Oxford professor chap doesn't end up fucking the 20 year old main character, because that'll make the whole thing into a billysue jerk off fantasy for PP and I really think he ought to be better than that. Time will tell.

for what it's worth i like plastic. it's better than Bakelite. i remember as a kid in the 90s, plastic stuff always had the Rainforest Alliance symbol on it because you're saving paper.

now i have a ton of paper carrier bags i DON'T reuse, even when they were free, i reused the thin carrier bags (actually got weird looks from cashiers). to me that's just a practical thing, might as well reuse something that has use.

now i just hoard a cupboard of paper bags because they're awkward as fuck to fold up/reuse, and go horrible when they get the tiniest bit damp. is pulping them even THAT good? my individual shopping items still have over one carrier bag's worth of plastic in them ;_;

Does anybody else just feel fucked all the time? I thought it would happen later in life but late 20s I'm already bald, constantly getting rashes, suddenly covered in moles, knees hurt going down the stairs in the morning, constantly farting and feeling bloated. I'd highly recommend a pack of Montecristo Puritos they are machine made not hand made small cigars but same leaf as the decent cristos at a cheap price and they are nice.
If you like extreme dark high nicotine try a Cro Mangnon Knuckle Dragger they are a lot for the money.
Cigar Manor are very good and reasonably priced. they are all much of a muchness to be honest.
I only have like maybe 2 or 3 a year but my friend gets gifted them all the time from work, hence the Davidoff in the pic.
My favourite is the Bolivar Belicosos Finos but it isn't cheap.
