I lived in Japan for six months using a tourist Visa. It was the greatest six months of my life. I can't speak for the work side of things, I never worked there and I hear it's bad. But the actual country itself is godsend. It's extremely clean. Crime rate is low. Food prices are fairly cheap compared to the West. You can get a full bowl of ramen for virtually $5 while in the US the equivelent bowl would be $30. The public transport is always on time and clean. Everyone minds their own business and doesn't make loud sounds. If you get into a McDonald's, the eating area you can hear a fucking pin drop sometimes. It's insane compared to the US where everyone is screaming and shouting. As a place to live, without having to work, it's a no brainer honestly.
