If you graduated college 7 years ago you could be makes 300k/yr now. New grads are getting ass fucked now, they weren't a couple years ago.

>If you graduated college 7 years ago you could be makes 300k/yr now.
You "could" but you wouldn't. The vast majority of college grads never made that kind of money.

Any cs grad who put in an ounce of effort did. What do you actually do for your job on the railroad?

Riding out the storm. Hoping it gets better. Acquiring more credentials for when the market bounces back.

Cute meme, but no. The vast majority did not. And not because they don't work, but because there just aren't that many jobs that pay that much.

why do people think like this? the world has been getting more hostile since 2008. we got a break during the pandemic because the government decided to baby us

No, anon, there was no period where "every cs grad who put in effort" was making 300k per year. A few high earners were, and immediately spending it on the insane cost of living in Silicon Valley. The vast majority of computer science graduates, no matter how skilled, were never making that kind of money. I genuinely hope you aren't stupid enough to take /g/ memes at face value, but if you were, then you weren't "late" to any gold rush because you never would have been one of those lucky few anyways.

not the other anon, but cs grad living in a tier 3 city and you're right. Shoot people making 200k after a decade are rare here. Never really interested in living in one of those big cities that all the fags who wanted to work in big tech flocked too.

Idk how much of a silver spoon you were born with but six figs of any kind is incredibly rich in my view. I was always at the top of my class and I'll never get a good job.

I agree anon. I actually have always been underpaid relative to other software people for this reason. When I got my first job I was so excited I was making money I didn't complain if everyone else was making more.
I didn't break 6 figures for years into my career since if I could afford a place to stay where I could sleepy comfily and video games, I was pretty happy with what they paid me.

overall private employers added 42,000 jobs in October. which suggests that bullshit jobs were lost but good jobs were gained.
42,000 isn't great and one hopes they weren't simply handed out to jeets. I concede.

I am currently working at a warehouse/vendor of sorts for deli meat. Want to go to something else since the pay is $1+ above minimum wage where I live.
Applied to entry level jobs. Haven't heard anything back from them in weeks. Applied to Sam's club and within a week get the email that says " At this time we have decided not to move forward with your application."

It's honestly either just signing up for the military or doing some trade job.

I think the its oversaturated in that field. even if i wanted to do something thats skill based it'll probably get taken by AI in a few years.
