There's hundreds of summaries on EPA that manage to explain it in a single paragraph, there's no point in writing a research paper on it. Attempts of trying to add context are silly since there will never be a perfect algorithm that can factor in all context. For instance, this "dime" that Jalen Hurts made doesn't factor in the context of Jaylon Watson being rusty and out of shape after returning from a fractured tibia and fibula. The box score stats give a general outline for a player's performance and don't pretend as if they capture the full context (as your fraudulent algorithms tend to do)
