In part yeah. There's some evidence I think that they used to be less awful, but at least after discovering the Shamans ability they became obsessive and evil.
At least at first they seemed to want to imitate Rauh, one of the most balanced and serene cultures we know of, but certainly in the state we see them, and with Enir Ilim as evidence, they lost their minds in the godly sauce and thought themselves better than everyone, leading to their worlds tower of Babel

Possible Titan. Evidence that the really old giants are still around, and that grace can in fact restore them too if Marika so chooses.
The titan we see is probably the reborn form of the Nightlord, now imbued with the grace of gold from the soul of the nightfarers.
The bottomless abyss of darkness that was within him is quelled, and grace acts as a sort of reward/peace offering in my mind
Something like "Hey we know that was some bullshit, here's a second chance in an immortal body with all the power to make your own life as you see fit. The Erdtree aint all bad"

At the same time it might imply the Nightlord was always an Old God, and just pulled the trigger on the Lands Between in contempt for the shattering
