It's not that hard. Oguri, Haru Urara, Hishi Akebono, King Halo, Nice Nature and many more lived long and happy lives. Even some horses who did get injured like Agnes Tachyon still lived just fine in retirement and enjoyed fucking mares on the reg. Series Protagonist Special Week literally lived out her retirement with her childhood friend Grass Wonder.

Hishi Akebono, The Largest Uma, Factoids

>Named after the Hishi Clan and the Yokozuna (Sumo) Akebono Taro
>Her IRL counterpart is the heaviest horse to win a GI (at 560 kg). Fans used to cheer whenever his weight was announced and his heaviest ever weight was 568 kg in the 1996 Mile Championship.
>He grew to 650kg after retirement. One can only wonder the fate of his broodmares
>For comparison, the average weight of a horse is ~470 kg and 500 kg is considered quite big. So Hishi Akebono was one fat fuck.
>There's a reason for this though. When his trainer tried to get him lean, he performed poorly. When they let him go huge, he was a winning machine. So they just gave in to his ravenous gluttony.
>And to be totally fair, a lot of that was muscle.
>All 30 races Hishi Akebono raced in his life were on firm/standard conditioned tracks.
>Because he is large, he is troubled by a lack of stamina, so he only raced in short-distance races.
>Had a short shelf life. His pedigree were known for doing well early but burning through their talent very quickly.
>This contributes to her personality in the game: being cheerful on surface, but realistic or even pessimistic at core.
>Was actually known to be very tame, friendly and docile.
