I read a book years ago called “What Cops Know.” It was a collection of stories from different departments through the 80s and 90s. There is a story that caught my attention, and has become more true as the days pass.
One cop had this story about how he would arrest these gangsters and would often be able to find evidence against them by looking for Polaroids. More often than not, they would have multiple shots of them with guns, drugs, murders, etc. He joked that if you could airdrop cameras into high crime zones, the criminals would collect all the evidence themselves.
I think about that from time to time.
