I have like 100 hours in Death Stranding (1) and like 15 stars on Sam’s thigh so far and I still just barely met Heartman. People who rush through these games are fucking stupid

This. So much tsmt. This game somehow feels like a therapy session to me. The way the characters speak to Sam, the way Sam himself randomly says things like “you’ve walked up worse” or “you’ve got this”, the way he constantly winks at you in the private room, the way characters often praise you for your hard work and encourage you to take on harder and harder challenges, the way the game will suddenly and randomly interrupt the comfiness with horror elements like the nightmare scenes and the BT encounters, the plot about how Sam is unwilling to connect with others at first but is slowly talked into it by everyone. This game just feels like a therapy session encouraging the player to do his best, be proud of his achievements, strive to achieve more, and power through and shrug off dangerous and scary situations. But that’s obviously not something that everyone will understand. That’s why I can’t help but feel like a snob when I praise this game, knowing other people will unironically just “not get it”
