nta but the "official timeline" is in progress and only right now has the position of things that are set in stone going forward. Everything is generally in release order or close to it, which what developers prefer for a long-running series. Stuff like Advance 1, Chaotix, and especially the 8-bit games? A good argument can be made to shift them around. That doesn't mean they're not canon, just that Sega's not ready to announce yet where exactly they belong on the timeline.
