It's actually true for both men and women. Humans are predominantly monogamous. Even in formally polygynous societies, the majority of the partnered population lives in monogamous unions. This idea that everyone is sleeping around is a myth. There are a handful of innately promiscuous people and since society has become more liberal in terms of sexual norms they no longer need to be promiscuous in secret, but these aren't representative.
