Kris is pale from being devoid of a soul. The sword route game moves the soul to the mini kris, which is why it gets paler when it gets near susie. That's kris forcibly ripping control back, if only for a second. Kris also seems to need to eat a shit ton after going soul commando, and susie even gives him a drink after. I wonder if any of this is intentional at this point.
