Don't think Noelle ever refers to her sister as December during chapter 1 though. So it would have been done to people to figure out that December meant Dess.
Sure they probably would piece that together but it that would have meant an interesting early hint that there was something about Noelle's sister and would have none the less meant an interesting initial reaction of "huh, why does typing December cause a reaction like typing Gaster?".
