That isn't bad exactly because it stuck to a formula that wasn't being exploited elsewhere in the game business. That's how I remember Skyward Sword. It was the weakest Zelda in many ways, but in 2011 I was also playing Skyrim and shitty Assassins Creed sequels. It was REFRESHING to play a game that was nothing like those yet still expansive and really long (50 hours of almost constant variety compared to "Go here, do 20 more of those")
Then BotW comes out and now Zelda is exactly like everything that's already being done.

But they're still ubisoft towers.... they literally copied that thing, and Far Cry 3 already added "level design" around each Radio Tower, so it isn't even true that Zelda did something unique here.

Yes, and I fucking uninstalled Skyrim after 110 hours because I don't need to walk that fucking distance and it adds nothing to the experience honestly.

There's nothing that was bad about it which wasn't already bad in BotW.
