My schizo theory is that Souls are a very much known thing in the world and can be used/harvested for whatever. Considering how many people are aware of them and their possible independence, I'm guessing that all the workarounds that Kris and Co are doing are them trying to work around what they know about a typical Soul, and not one that can attempt different routes multiple times over via Resetting, over with all of the prior knowledge from resetting do everything necessary in a single shot.
I'll keep theory-crafting it but Thanks for the input.
