It was pretty dumb. They couldn't figure out at other creative way to introduce the audience to the ideas. Ridley should have at least kept the scene where Deckard visits his long time buddy Holden and they discuss how good the new replicants are and how scary it is

Based. I liked the scene where Deckard goes to see his long time pal Holden in the hospital. It's so much more poignant when you can see they're starting to get pretty scared about how good the replicants are getting at blending in and seeming human. Their job used to be really easy since replicants were essentially like Data from Star Trek. Very easy to spot, not understanding a lot of normal human stuff, and giving up when they're caught.
