Each individual or instance might embody a fragment of a myth, or their acts may, in aggeegate, contribute to or rejuvenate the tradition of a culture. That's the bloody hero's journey. But yeah 4 elements are overplayed and I dunno which creation myths you read but I don't think they're that common since they're a . The theme of most creation myths is the creation of masculine order and civilisation out of feminine chaos and wilderness. In Genesis before God even says "Let there be light" there are dark waters, both darkness and water being the domain of chaos.
So I dunno what you've got in mind for your game but never forget... Worldbuilding and writing lore is literally pointless if you have no game and you're just engaged in advanced ideaguy nodev busywork that gives you a false sense of accomplishment. So stop that shit and make a game.
