All they had to do was not have Kang job to fucking Ant Man. But they did and it simply showed how completely incompetent they were when it comes to telling any kind of compelling story. Just completely mindless. Quantumania pulled the curtain back in their whole fast food assembly line of slop philosophy. Because if anyone with any sense was in charge of writing it they would have stood up and raised their hand and said that Ant Man beating their next Thanos was retarded. But the whole MCU at that point was just one big thoughtless machine simply pumping out 'content' so a stupid decision like that made it through.
Then they just kept the mindless marching going pumping out more mindless creatively voided crap like The Marvels and Secret Invasion. It got so bad that any big name actor with a shred of dignity left said no when approached to play Reed Richards.(Jake Gyllenhaal) So they ended up settling on Pascal who will jump at anything right now to strike while the iron is hot in his career. Even though he is completely miscast.

He probably did the math.
If he tries to finish it it's a 66% chance of a bad outcome. With only a 33% chance of a good outcome. Outcome #1 he compromises himself and puts out some safe Marvel tier slop. Which would be a negative outcome in his own mind even if it was popular because he sold himself out
Option #2 he writes what he wants no matter that it's edgy AF and gets cancelled by the woke mob and his legacy destroyed
Option #3 he writes what he wants and actually does not get cancelled and his
legacy is intact.
That's a 33% chance of success.
OR he chooses NOT to finish it and has a 100% chance of keeping his legacy intact
