Elden Ring base game is how open world should be.
It gives you actual rewards (weapons, spell, armor, talismans) for exploration.
Dungeons can be better. Verticality was fixed in SotE.
The only issue is crafting and ashes. Ashes is shit reward and mechanic. Just give me Verdict Day fully customizable AI and design game around it or fuck off.
Crafting is optional. Don't care how good it is the game isn't min max hard enough for you to craft shit. So it is useless reward for majority of players.
