While personally I'd say follow your dreams and why not? The spread does imply you might have better and more suitable options you haven't yet sit to ponder on. I believe said alternative/s are ovbious to you, but you are refusing them, I wouldt say on pursuit of a higher calling exactly, but you are underappreciating alternatives to firefighting. To be crass, firefighting might also not be possible, specially if you have records or traumas.
